In general, what would be the risk for a person,to die in a surgery for mitral valve replacement by a sain't jude one, knowing that before,he had a surgery to change his tricuspide one by the same type of artificial valve, and another to put a ring.
somewhere online there is a large medical students forum very informative and NOT open to the public there is the openheart forum lots of medical technical jargon about complicated open heart surgery procedures new techniques et al
as a medical student perhaps you can go read there
hope this helps with your med study

in Paris there is a great heart surgeon I forget his name ?
With a third time open heart surgery, the risk of bleeding is higher with all the scar tissue and nodes that are present from the previous surgeries. Some surgeons are doing valve replacements through a catheter. There currently has been heavy bleeding from this procedure, but they are on their way to perfecting it. Surgeons I spoke with said in 10 years there will be no more open heart surgeries. There is also a lot coming out now with stem cells. Stem cells can replace damage done to a heart after a heart attack. It has been known for many years that the heart can repair itself and in some people the heart actually grows new arteries to reroute the plugged ones. This happened to my grandfather and he was in a study at the University of Minnesota.
I'm not talkin about me,I'm a medical student at paris, and asking for ideas or experiences of people who went throught this because I want to know more about cases I see, specially that there is a person in my family that is having this problem too,so if u can give me more info about what u had I would be thankful.
Every patient is different and this you should really discuss with your heart surgeon maybe even with several heart surgeons.
Myself I tried for a second surgery and was told I was too high risk.
