It depend,s on the type of surgery, I have a very bad heart, had a by -pass 3 years ago
it blocked back up and my Dr. said I could not go thur another by-pass, but as the
artery,s have blocked over the years at 62 I have had stent,s put in many time,s
so it how the person,s health is ,how bad it is,and I guess it just depend,s
on the situation.
It depends on the type of surgery, the patinet's medical conditions and their age. For a simple bypass the risk is very low, less than a few percentage points. For complex valvular disease the risk can be as high as 10 to 15%. Heart function and the functional status of the patient play a huge role in prognosis.
