some medications for blood pressure are very beneficial for the dysfunction reported from your echo. Perhaps your Doctor will consider Ramipril which is very good and has had remarkable feedback.
I would ask your Doctor about the diastolic dysfunction because he/she may also want an explanation or at least to keep an eye on you. It could be because of high blood pressure, it's one of the major causes.
Your heart goes through two basic cycles each time it pumps blood, There is systole and diastole. Systole is when all the muscle contracts, squeezing blood out of the larger chambers. The left chamber sends oxygen rich blood to your body, the right chamber sends poor oxygenated blood back to the lungs to get more oxygen. This will return to the left chamber eventually. The heart then relaxes, and as it does so, it fills with blood ready to start again, this is diastole. The blood rich in oxygen from the lungs fills into the left chamber ready to be pumped around your body, used blood with poor oxygen fills into the right chamber ready to be pumped to the lungs. Once filled, then systole starts again.
Your heart isn't relaxing as it should. Type 1 is very mild, but still it is a bit stiff. Any stiffness will affect the filling, but it won't be noticeable yet at type 1. If however, it gets to type 3 or 4, it will be a different story. I'm just saying it's not something to just turn a blind eye to, it is not dangerous now, but I'm thinking about you long term. Obviously if you can remove the signs now, great :)

hello, no nothing was mentioned about it , and I was discharged from them this morning , the only reason I know about it is because I telephoned for the printed results from my tests that I have had at cardiology, I requested these a couple of weeks ago, I was handed these affter being discharged from a nurse on the way out this morning , and she just said these are the test results that I had requested , so I read it at home .. so if i had not requested this copy I would never have known about the diastolic dysfunction ! , so i am a little bit confused , my blood pressure does tend to be border line + , average is 140/90 but like today it was 153/111 , so does get raised , I am not a diabetic , have been getting ectopics, chest pains for a while now , and have loads of family history of heart disease , the cardiologist just said all the test are ok , he is not worried about ectopics - chest pain he believes is not heart related , but because my blood pressure is as is , he will send the final letter to my gp suggesting I go on meds for blood pressure , no mention at all about Diastolic dysfunction :-/ .. , but as I have been discharged now , am wandering if anybody will be querying this dystolic dysfunction ? , or will take it seriously ,
can you please explain a bit more about it if possible , kind regards

Well your Mitral and tricuspid valves have a very slight leak, but nothing to get worried about. However, what concerns me is the type 1 diastolic dysfunction? Why have they ignored this and discharged you from cardiology? Diastolic dysfunction can become serious over time, it means your heart is not relaxing as good as it should to re-fill with blood, it's a bit stiff. Yes stage 1 is mild, but they should look at the cause and treat accordingly because you certainly don't want it to get any worse. Is your blood pressure high? do you have diabetes? I would call the Doctor and ask for an explanation of this.
