After surviving a heart attack in October,2007 , I have been put on a series of medications to combat my CAD AWMI condition.Quite recently I have developed restlessness and shortness of breath especially while at rest.My cardiologist has advised me to get a Holter Monitor test done.I would like to know what would possibly be the reason for my shortness of breath and will it be shown on a Holter?
Do you mean PAC's?
Sinus rhythm is a term used in medicine to describe the normal beating of the heart, as measured by an electrocardiogram (ECG). Normal heart rate is between 60 to 100.
Premature atrial contractions (PACs) are a type of premature heart beat, irregular heart beat or benign arrhythmia which start in the upper two chambers of the heart, also called atria. These aren't as serious as a premature ventricular contraction (PVCs) and usually require no medical care. Individuals with the condition may report feeling that his or her heart "stops" after a symptom. PVCs and PACs are also sometimes called heart palpitations.
PVC's are similar to PAC's but they occur in the ventricles, in a healthy heart, they are usually benign as well.
A Couplet is two consecutive PVC's or PAC's
A run is just a group of more than 3 PVC's or PAC's in a row
So, to try to sum it up, I would say you were in sinus rhythm, and you had PAC's, some occuring two at once, and also had more than 3 and up to 6 of this irregular beat during the tracing. You only had a few PVC's.
Hope this helps some.
