The elevated pressures in the lungs may be caused by high filling heart pressures related to thich heart muscle, mitral valve regurgitation where the valve leaks blood back into the lungs and finally, potential coronary artery disease which if he had a catheterization he probably does not. The lungs don't tolerate high pressures for a long time and may suffer deletorious changes. As long as his pulmonary pressure is only mildly elevated and was only recently diagnosed and clinically he feels relatively ok, he will be fine. However, long term, he may need surgical intervention to fix the obstruction and maybe even the mitral valve.
we started undergoing testing because he has recently started getting short of breath on mild exertion and having episodes when he feels like his heart is racing and beating really hard, he gets dizzy, his doctor thought he may have had a blockage but after having a rt and lt heart cath no blockages were seen, ekg shows Sinus with occational pvc's and pac's and most recently something about a rt bbb,
