tachycardia and PVC's and adrenaline

Does anyone know how high can an axiety attact drive one's HR up? to 110, 120, 130?? Is adrenaline caused high HR that stops in a few minutes considered tachycardia?
I was diagnosed with begign PVC's and tach (on rare occassions) THe tach only lasts a few minutes and I sense it can be stress related.

More and more I believe, after doing research, adrenaline pumping (dumping)-that is whatever one wants to call it, can cause shoort term tach. One thinks it's tach and its really anxiety disorder causing it.

ANyway , curious to know about how casn anxiety push up one's HR.

thoughts anyone? Thanks to all those that respond. This is a great support website. For a new panicky Tach and PVC person, the site really helps calm one's fears, many times, more than the doc who tests you, says your Ok, and sends you home.

I've seen my HR shoot as high as 200 with anxiety alone, just sitting still.  Crazy, eh?

Hello, Ok, so you were diagnosed with Sinus Tachycardia and pvc's?  But not SVT?  As for your decisions with the meds, that is a personal decision, and something only you and your Dr. can figure out. I have to take them right now, even though I hate meds, but my tachycardia is everyday now, and who knows what is causing what.  My Dr. told me it can just come one day and not be caused by anything.  I know that it was probably all started with anxiety and stress though, so I am also working on lessening that.  I know your hr is supposed to get up in the 100's when your exercising though, so maybe try to just keep it up, unless your Dr. doesn't want you too.  I totally quit exercising, and am just now going to try to start slowly again.  Unfortunately, before meds, my hr would go up to 170 within 5 minutes of running, so that wasn't good.  Take Care, Michelle

Thanks for your response. I stopped the Toprol every other day. It made me drowsy and I had bad dreams. I am not drowsy, but still have dreams. I am counting on stress that triggerred most of this episode or disorder. I have a Dr. appt in a few days and plan tp discuss that I have very few, if any, PVC's now, but I wake up, get edgy, and the start the short tach episodes of 120 BPM. So, I wake up, am fine, then the tach starts. But, I am waiting for it to come and it is self fulling. It went away for a few days, but startded again last night. Let's see what tonight brings. I think if I can get to a place where I can handle the PVC's and the tach, the anxiety will get better. Sometimes when I begin to work out, I look at the heart monitor and the HR shoots to 130, I get nervous and stop. Yet, before all this a 140 or 145 HR didn't bother me. Who knows. I am 63, in great shape, and have never taken a pill in my life before the being put on toprol. ANy thoughts about all this???
Thanks for the ear. THe emails are comforting in that I have plenty of company on this subject. By the by, all my tests have always shown my heart activity to be basically normal except for a few PVC's.

Hello, I read your posts to me on the other threads.
Yes, my svt is brought upon by adrenaline, and from what I understand from my Dr. today is that tachycardia can go as high as 200.  I thought you said you were diagnosed with SVT, is it just sinus tachycardia?  Stress can absolutely drive your heart rate up.  That is how mine is, but somewhere along the way, it switches to an abnormal firing, so then it is no longer ST, but SVT.  You can tell on an EKG or Holter.
The electrophysiologist said that anxiety disorder can cause the tach, BUT, always the other way around, you think your having anxiety and it is the SVT coming on.  Mine is brought on mostly, not always, but 80% of the time when I get really stressed over something.  So I have to relearn how to respond to my stress, before it gets the better of me.
Didn't you mention your taking Toprol once every other day?  Is it helping you?  Are you under stress, is that why you asked?  Do you get these tach episodes alot? From what I understand, your hr going up to 130 for a few minutes and back down is NOT SVT, just ST from anxiety.  By the way, I have pac's and pvc's too, the beta blockers aren't helping much, but then again, their really not designed too, except to maybe lessen them or the sensations.  I hate them more than the SVT.
Take Care, Michelle
