what is irreversible ischemia

I had a resting persantine stress test. I was admitted for chest pain. The results were irreversible ischemia in the septal region & heterogeneous pattern diffusely. The DR at the hospital said all tests normal. When I was discharges the stress test report was mixed in with the usual discharg papers. This was in 2007. When I asked the Dr. what all the medical words meant. He said do not worry about it & would not answer. Since then I have gotten many more problems like a racing pulse sob swollen legs & at times weaknes so bad I can hardly get out of bed. Also I now have a dry cough & wheezing. The last time I went to the Dr. he said I was a pyschopathic person who does not to know hoe to handle life. I know my heart is not working right. Please help me.!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are experiencing classic signs of congested heart failure.  It won't get better without treatment.  It appears you have some heart muscle damage and that may reduce how well your heart pumps blood into circulation and this will cause blood to back up into the lungs and periperal areas causing swollen legs (usually ankles), shortness of breath and dry cough (lung edema).  You should see another doctor or go to emergency.  I was in ICU for several days with the symptoms you are expressing...CHF.

Ischemia is a term used for an inadequate blood supply feeding Oxygen to a given area of tissue. Reversible ischemia is when intervention, in the form of medication, stenting or bypass can increase that supply. Irreversible is when there is nothing available to assist with the blood flow. The decision is based on the location of the ischemia and how accessible it is. It could also be that the tissue has suffered too much damage to warrant revascularization, it could even be that the cells have died.
If a scan reveals no blood accessing an area of the heart tissue then it is likely that the tissue has died. So, supplying extra blood to the area will have no effect because dead tissue will not use the blood anyway.
