I was in a similar boat as you around this time last year.. Frequent pvc's coming from right ventricle. My MD ordered an MRI to rule out ARVD.. The mri should pick up on any signs of arvd, so if it comes back normal you shouldn't have to worry about that. I've had two ablations that were unsuccessful due to the area being too close to an artery to completely burn, but as far as the actual procedure, it wasn't bad at all. I did develop some pericarditis after the second ablation, but it settled down in a few days. Best of luck with your ablation!
The bad cells were located in a place that was difficult for the doctors to maneuver the catheter; also they were too far into the outside wall. This meant that the energy delivered was too weak to burn the spot completely. However, he was able to kill the main trunk. So, only some bad peripheral cells are left that act-up every now and then. At the time of the ablation they were not firing. The doctor waits 30 minutes, if nothing fires then the wires are pulled.
Hi thanks for the comment. Could you please tell why was your ablation unsuccessful ? Mine is coming from the right ventricular ?
Wishing you success with your ablation!
I have had 4 ablations; 3 of them were unsuccessful; the last one was better than 90% ok. The last one was at Clev Clinic in Nov 2007. I now occasionally get PVCs, but nowhere the number I use to have. I go months without any and then, for no apparent reason, especially at night I feel a wrestling match taking place in my chest. I would undergo another procedure, but unless PVCs are active at time of procedure, the doctor will be unable to locate them. The location of the offending spot was in the left ventrical, right next to the wall, and it made it very difficult to maneuver the catheter to the location. Since at worst they are now just a nuisance to me, ablation is no longer of any interest.
best of luck , i hope both of are will be back to normal after the ablation . :)
Thanks very much . they'll call me on monday about my MRI results . and then ill go for ablation .
Odds are if you have had a clean echo and told your heart is structurally fine you likely do not have anything other than annoy pvcs. Best of luck getting them corrected.
Good advice I could read over your typos, but I make a lot myself..any here?
Lucast... ablation is a very safe procedure... ask you doctor what risk/benefit ration looks like... as given a very small number because of low rish and high benefit - part of the benefit evaluation is what is the probability of success.
I would try to get your doctor to give you some kind of an anti-anxiety agentmand ambeta blocker. How many PVCs are you getting daily?
Ablation is something that my Cardiologist mentioned if the daily number was 20,000 or greater. try not to worry to much. pvcs are hell, as anyone here will tell you. take care and best to you. please keep us posted.
I am have a Ablation on the 6th for SVT..cant wait. I am so tired from feeling bad and taking Metoprolol tartrate, my BP spikes so much that was on 100 mg twice a day. but hopefully if all goes well its fixing to change.
Ablation is safe, but with any procedure there is always risk involved, just trust your doctor, he knows what he is doing. he is taking all the steps into seeing that all will go according to your benefit. stay calm..
