Arrhythmia and head pressure

Hi. Ok, so for as long as I can remember, I've had my heart skipping beats. I have an arrhythmia, but not sure what kind yet. I'm going to see an electrophysiologist very soon. For the past year though I've noticed when my heart beats irregular which at times could be an all day thing, I also have head pressure, sinus pressure and dizziness. My blood pressure is fine. I don't know what this is? I have been to doctor after doctor, numerous ER visits. Blood tests, ekgs which are abnormal, echo stress which is normal. I don't understand why the head pressure and sinus pressure. I can go weeks feeling fine, then my heart will beat irregular and this always happens. I see my cardio doc Monday and I will bring it up for the millionth time. I'm so sick of not getting answers. Thank you guys

Michelle, thank you so much for your reply. I'm really thinking this is all related to an arrhythmia. I just need to know why, and what kind and see what he says. I'm on a beta blocker and it really helps with the pounding heart I was having but does nothing for the skipped beats. I have an appointment soon so fingers crossed I'm on my way to finding out. I will keep you posted

Well when your heart beats irregular you may not be getting the proper amounts of blood to your brain producing the symptoms you are having.  In general they should go away once your heart beat normalizes but it sounds like you have a lot of them.  Do you know about how many?  I would avoid caffeine, sugary foods, foods high in carbohydrates, spicy foods and eating big meals and see if that helps.  As well try and avoid stress and anxiety and work on any acid reflux that you may have.  Unfortunately the cause of the skipped beats can be hard to pin down and unless you are having an extreme amount, close to 20,000 a day they usually try to do the least amount of intervening as possible especially if the heart was evaluated to be healthy which yours was.  most of the time they will try to prescribe beta blockers and see if the beats calm down but see your EP and find out what they think is going on.  it is not unheard of to have multiple issues.  I had an svt on top of the skipping beats.   My svt was a super fast heart beat that would randomly start and stop in what felt like one beat.  I had it all my life but it began to disrupt my life in my 40s so I got that ablated only to be left with a lot of ectopic activity, extra, or what feels like skipping beats in the atria, pacs or ventricles pvcs.  The EP ablated the svt but didn't do anything for the ectopic beats.  Eventually they calmed down on their own.  I still get a few but not nearly as many as I had right after my ablation.  They seem to come and go for some reason and the doctors really don't have a total handle on them which may be why you haven't gotten clear answers but hopefully the EP will clear things up for you.  Best of luck and keep us posted on how it goes.
