Could I have had a heart attack from low potassium?

So I have an eating disorder and sometimes I get palpitation when I don't have enough potassium (I do not vomit). About 8 months ago, they were really bad, along with chest pain, and I went to the ER. The ER dismissed this as anxiety and sent me home. I went to a cardiologist and they found nothing. The other day it felt like my potassium was low again and I ate a banana, but I still got the symptoms very bad, very bad chest pain and I'm afraid I had a heart attack. How likely is this?

Eating disorders can have many bad effects on the heart, including sudden cardiac death, heart failure and heart rhythm problems.  You need to fess up to your doctor or cardiologist about your eating disorder and get checked out.  A banana is not going to do it. Most importantly, get treatment for your eating disorder before something bad happens.  I know, I was there.  I was 17, 5'9" tall and weighed 96lbs.  I still have the mind of an anorexic (if that makes any sense) but I make myself eat and maintain a normal weight.  It is not easy, but if you want to live, you have to do it.  Please talk to your doctor and get a referral to a therapist who specializes in eating disorders.  It is the only way to stop.

cvs56 is right.  Doctors are not mind readers, though they can occasionally make sophisticated guesses from the info you give them.  If you want to get better, you have to be totally straight in conversation--and be be willing, heart and soul, to follow advice.
