Does accupuncture help?

To: anyone with PVC's
Hello:

I am a 45 year young female and never had any heart related problems until I found myself in the ER about 6 weeks ago and was told I had a premature heart beat but a healthy heart. After having taken Peramil for about a month I stopped taking them since they made me feel tired and drowsy and I found that the fainting part that used to come with the PVC's had become less severe. I also did not have the "I can't breath" sensation. I think I got those PVC's from being on a lot of planes, too much coffee, over the counter nose sprays and cold medicin. I have improved my diet now and stopped smoking and switched to decaf. I also started to do Yoga and began to run again. So far the heart beats did not improve that much. They come with some pain and and a discomfort in my chest and left shoulder. I often find my eyes to look different on days that I am doing less well and my vision is compromised as well. I really do not expect much from my cardiologist who told me to call him when things get worse, but in all reality he said I would most likely not die from it. My wellbeing is very compromised at this point and I am wondering if anybody tried accupuncture or went to a Naturpathic doctor for help and if so what was the experience like.

Thanks for any feedback you can provide.
Susanne

Others have tried it, and there's mixed outcomes.  Some of us it works for, some it doesn't; it all depends on what's wrong with your heart and how serious it is.  Try the search engine for accupuncture on the top of the page and see what others who have tried it say and I would mention it to my dr.

I considered it for awhile until I had an ablation then had to have a pacemaker/icd implanted - now I don't want to even try.

I have a very good friend whose uncle had kidney problems and it really helped him, and many moons ago I knew someone very close to me that it helped some of his "sexual" performance problems :P

Almost all research says pvc's are almost always "benign";  which is probably true.  I haven't found a solid fact that shows that yet - only the quoted 99% of all pvc's are benign; I happen to be in the minority of 1% malignant pvc's.

Alternative therapy can help; process of elimination of triggers, managing stress & anxiety can help also, there are a few of us like me that meds do not help.  I've tried 4 meds/dosages and just finally begged my EP to keep me off the dreaded things because they made me feel worse.  You may want to try different meds/dosages and find what works for you if you don't have any adverse side effects.

I don't know that makes me a little nervous about trying acupuncture for heart probs.   Most heart probs. w. any type of PVC's, A Fib etc are electrical based and that is def. not an acupuncturists forte.  Sounds like you need to get pro active and look for a better heart doc and don't give up till you get an answer my friend.  No one knows your body better than you do and it sounds like you're doing all kinds of calming exercises but i'd shop around in your area for other people that love their heart doc.  We all explain away the coffee, planes, over the counter meds and sometimes i think its denial on our own part.  Don't wait for the ax to fall but for your doc to tell you to call him/her when things get worse sounds like they need to kick rocks as we say in California.  What about preventative?  What about testing till they find out what it is?  The heart and the brain are the two things we can't mess with.....the pump to our body and the basic system that makes us who we are the brain.  And to say "most likely won't die from it????"  Aw come on now are you willing to take that chance???? Not me.  Suzanne stay away from acupuncture on this one....would you have your hairdresser fix the transmission on your car?  No way....keep going till you get the answers you need and don't give up until you get the answers...you're on the right track....this site from those of us that have been there!
