ED & past atrial fibrillation problems

My husband underwent Radiofrequency catheter ablation four years ago to reset his heart rhythm due to  atrial fibrillation.  This procedure was a success.  The only medication he now has to take is Cartia which is a blood pressure medicine and low dose aspirin.  He is 64 years old and in good health.  Would taking one of the drugs to treat ED, like Viagra or Cialis be harmful to him?

Heart rhythm problems often have an identifiable cause--or at least something that contributes to the issue.  Circulation issues can be a cause and often go undiagnosed.  ED suggests a circulation issue.   A 64 slice CT scan is a safe alternative to a angiogram and does a great job of imaging coronary arteries.  If he is developing significant blockages, there are things that can be done to improve circulation.

Hello and welcome to the Heart Forums!

Glad to hear your husband's ablation was successful!!  To the best of my knowledge, medications used to treat ED are contraindicated in patients with known heart disease.  Has your husband had a recent checkup?  Is he heart-healthy?'  Here is a MedHelp link to information on Cialis:

Hope that helps.
Before starting on any new medication, just be sure his doctor knows his medical history and is aware of current medications.
