Fas heart rate all night, please help

Hi, I am 24 years old, Have not been very active latley and could eat better, monday i caught my daughters stomach virus and threw up and had diarrha for about 7 hours, now I have a sore troat and feel like i am getting sick, well last night around 12 i ate some food lying down , it had alot of pepper on it , then i woke up with fast heart rate. and it is still fast but not as fast. What do you think could be causing this? Was it because i ate food lying down? I also was prescribed in june metoprolol for anxity/fast heart rate.Had blood tests and ekg, everything was normal. Any help would be great.

Sounds to me like you have a caught a bug or bugs and it is taching out your body which i don't think is too uncommon when we are worn down.  When you say you woke up with a fast heart rate and its still fast how fast are we talking here?  What was your pulse when you took it?  I don't think it would hurt at all just to call your local doc and tell them what is going on with you...they may want to take a little listen to your heart just to make sure that everything is where it should be....its a pretty inexpensive visit for peace of mind....

Hope your are feeling better, and if so that may be because of no virus or food problems.

You say you have a prescription for Metoprolol, so it seems you have been diagnosed with a need for something to slow you HR down.  Hope that helps.

Try exercise, and heart friendly diet is the best I can offer.
