Heart Block First and Mobitz 1 heart block

Hi,

I recently had to do a holter monitor, because I complained to the doc about heart palpitations.  On an incidental finding at night I am getting First degree and Mobitz 1 heart block.  Also I'm getting bradycardia.  My bpm at one point went as low as 32 bpm.  I have been to a cardiologist and I have had an echocardiogram, EKG, blood work, 30 day event monitor.  The cariologist didn't seem worried about this.  He said that bradycardia, although a somewhat low number, is normal in a healthy young adult, during sleep.  I'm 27/M.  He also mentioned that Mobitz 1 heart block is benign, but sometimes it can turn into Mobitz 2 heart block, although this is uncommon.  I'm still kinda worried about it becuase I can feel skippeed beats sometimes and it feels really weird and uncomfortable.  I have been to 2 different cardiovascular specialists and both were not worried about all my test results.  Anyone else going through something like this?

Your description seems to match my situation....yet I am having a pacemaker fitted next week?
Other people think nighttime heart rate of 33 very dangerous? I feel fine, asymptomatic.....and was just wondering how things have been for you in the past years? Thanks, Julie

In a healthy heart ectopic beats are of no concern.  That said, have you had your arteries checked recently or had an echo done recently?  How long does the chest pain last?  When I get strong ectopic beats the chest pain doesn't last but a few minutes of if I am having a bad day it is gone by morning but if your chest pain is crushing I would push to get that checked out.  I would also question the doctor about the fact that you had a previous stroke and it might be prudent to do a full work up of your heart since you are nearing 50.  I know cardiologists are not overly concerned about a lot of heart issues but we have to be our best advocate to ensure we have been properly looked at.  It is very possible you have nothing to worry about but if you feel you haven't been properly looked at, especially if your symptoms are new or worsening then push to get more tests.  You likely won't just drop dead one day but it is helpful to know that for sure with a few tests to prove it when one is having distressing symptoms.  Take care.  I do hope you can get to the bottom of this.  Keep us posted on how you are doing.

I'm now 49 and have Mobitz 1 2nd degree block.  I too have those strange feelings in my hands and feet.  Mostly at night I also get chest pains and can feel my heart skip beats. i get lightheaded and really dizzy sometimes. I had a stroke when I was 28. I get the same response for all the cardiologist that I've seen.  Just hoping one day I don't drop dead.

Im the same as you, i am 20/F and was diagnosed with a type 2 heart block, they told me to wait 3 months to see if it was viral? has anyone else heard of a viral heart block... no matter where i look i cant find anything on it. also told me to resume ordinary life but i cant walk up stairs without getting short of breath and dizzy. they seem to just leave us with little knowledge, but as a science and in particular heart lay person it is very stressful and a concern.

yea, like 3 yrs ago i was diagnosed w/ mobitz 1. the doctors weren't concerned at all. however, i am extremely concerned. i am 31 yrs old now, and i can feel an extreme change in the amount of the palpitations now. it seems way worse now than it did 3 yrs ago, but they say i'm okay.

unless you get syncope, this is no cause for alarm, and  this is benign.
