Two years out, I too get occasional runs of what feels like SVT. The feeling in the chest though is much lighter than my former SVT, and I would guess is similar to what Michelle says she is feeling. It lasts for a a half dozen to a dozen beats, then drops out. It never happens under physical load, but while at rest, so with the stillness, you can really feel, and "listen" to them. I've learned to accept them as benign and if they dropped out the last time, they'll do so this time as well.
Thanks Michelle,
Did your doctor explain why this happened to you 5 weeks out from the procedure? I hope yours also settle down further.
I will get runs of pacs that feel like that, a bit like svt but not quite the same as my avnrt but it feels like there is some sort of speeding up of some sort. I had one of those today. Considering you have known ectopics it is possible this is what you are also feeling though one can't say for sure unless it is caught on a monitor. I will say I can have days with lots of ectopics, today I am having quite a few but they don't make me sick besides for maybe being a bit short of breath and feeling like I need to cough a lot so I do hope that you can at least get to a point where your heart is so sensitive to them. Good luck at the doctors and keep us posted on how you are.
Thank you for your reply. I also spoke with the EP on call, who is also well-respected. He did not want to prescribe anything before talking with my doctor though. He did assure me there is no way that the ablation caused this, and that he believes I developed a new irritable focus.
I've also experienced some strange sensations that may or may not be ectopics. They do not feel like ectopics when taking my pulse, as they do not feel like a skipped beat. Instead it seems a regular beat is associated with some sort of adrenaline feeling. This only happens when I am lying down to try to sleep. I wonder what this could be?
I am so sorry to hear you are having problems. I had avnrt an ablation for it a year ago September. About 5 weeks out of it I developed super bad ectopic that made me very sick. The bad bout of them probably 15,000 to 20,000 a day didn't last too long but I still get hundreds a day and at times if I over do it with physical exertion it can reach to the thousands but after about a year they really stop being quite as noticeable but they do seem to have a life of their own and morph in amount and intensity of their own accord so please have faith that this won't last forever. It is important that you do all you can to relieve any stress you are feeling, even stress over the issue as that will make the situation worse. I would also check into any stomach issues you may have like acid reflux which can aggravate ectopic beats. Finally I would say try to not over exert yourself too much until you can get this under control. The heart is a resilient muscle and can handle a lot but it takes a while to recover so you may just need a bit more time to get your heart to settle down but odds are it will. That said, being in the middle of it is no fun so do contact your EP and let them know how sick these are making you feel. Sometimes adding a beta block can help relieve some of the discomfort from the ectopic beats. I wish you the best of luck that you get a handle on these and feel better soon. Take care.
