High Heart Rate in Mornings

I am 37 and in good shape. For the last year I've been waking up with a HR of 160. Even before I get out of bed it starts to rise. When I'm standing it's higher so I simply sit for 1/2-2 hours until it goes down. I feel awful. I'm nauseas and very weak. Sometimes I'm weak all day. All my cardio tests have come up fine and the doctor put me on Lopressor, 75 mg a day. It feels good to know I'm not alone. I go to the cardiologist every 3 weeks until we can get this under control(it's been 3 months). The nurse mentioned POST. My BP is always very low and I'm also on Midodrine. My heart rate can be 150 and my BP is 80/60. This is very scary. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I don't feel flutters in my throat, but my entire chest feels just awful. I really can't explain it except for a huge pressure on my chest. My BP on the other hand, goes down when I stand up. The other day HR went down to 42 while standing. Are you feeling weak, also? It's almost like the high HR in the mornings seems to tax me throughout the day sometimes. You could get a BP machine and test your own BP and HR to see if it is something considering going to a doctor about. That's what I did and now I have a cardiologist to see again on Thursday. I hope surgeries aren't in my future. The doctor did mention that last time I was in. Take care.

I get the same exact thing in the morning too even before I get out of bed.  In fact, if I wake up during the night I can feel the tachycardia.  I get extreme fatigue also, and the anxiety of the condition is starting to get to me too.  My BP is low too, but it seems to go up when standing.  My heart rate is ridiculously high in the morning and I can feel flutters in my throat.  Do you get that?

Good luck.  I hope you feel better soon.  Just wanted you to know you're not alone.  I am 44 and felt in pretty good shape until this heart rate problem.  :(

I meant POTS. I'm not sure what that is. The midodrine seemed to help more for the first few days than now. I haven't had any fainting episodes either. Also, what is Dysautonomia? I go to the doctor again on Thursday and would like to discuss this with him. Thank you.

Sounds like POTS/Dysautonomia.  Has the Midodrine helped?  Have you had any fainting episodes?
