Irregular Heartbeat and Labor and Delivery

I have posted a similar post before, but didn't get much response, so I'm hoping maybe this will catch some eyes.  I have had episodes of tachycardia in the past (last attack about 7 years ago) and ever since I have had trouble with irregular heartbeats (PVCs).  I am now pregnant with my first baby and am due to deliver in about 4 or 5 weeks and am worried about what will go on with my heart during the process.  I take metaprolol daily to help, but my body has never been through something like labor and delivery and I am scared to death that something bad will happen to me.  Has anyone been through labor and delivery that has irregular heartbeats?  Any stories, personal experiences, advice, etc. would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
Oh - and i have had anxiety ever since the first tachycardia attack as well.  I normally keep it under control with Zoloft, but have been off of the Zoloft since I got pregnant. Just thought I would throw that out there as well...

Hi. I know this is older.. but how did your delivery go? Did the pvcs subside? I, too, have the same issue and am looking for some reassurance and success stories. Very frightened about labor and delivery right now. I am 33 weeks pregnant!

I had SVT at the time of my pregnancies and it was really hard; I was on bedrest for awhile. My normal rates ran about 160/180 beats per minute. It wasn't easy but I made it through 2 vag births without medication. I just could not have any more children which was upsetting! If you have made it this far, I don' t think you have too much to worry about.

I didn't know at the time of my pregnacys(3) that i had wolff parkinson white syndrom.  I also have pac's and pvc's.  I didn't have any problems during my deliveries 2- C-sections and 1 vagianal.  They will be right there to monitor you and take care of anything that comes up if it does.  By the way I also have anxiety issues and the more you worry the worse it makes it, for me anyway.  Enjoy the rest of the pregnacy and go with it during the delivery.  Good Luck

Just to add a little to the above....I've had PVC's,PAC's and Tachy since I was 13! And I had 2 vag deliveries and 1 C-section, towards the end of my pregnancies I developed Tachy and during delivery(my C-section) my heart rate did go up to 160 bpm...I told the nurse and she told my doc I was concerned and he turned me on my side, and finished the surgery with me on my side, well I was tilted towards my left, anyway, he didn't seem worried and actually when he did that my heart rate dropped back down! And after delivery I felt so much better!
I also believe that our bodies are made for such "things" and God will always take care of us!

Oh honey!!!  Don't worry yourself about that.  I have had PVCs and the whole rest of the irregulars since I was 19 and have had two babies, one by C-section (and nine surgeries) and have never had problems.  I have an anesthesiologist I trust and when the time comes, you will be in the best of hands anyway!!!!!

I am also on toprol when I was pregnant. I had a heart infection and it caused rate issues. My heart rate was staying around 130 at rest when pregnant. I was also very scared about my delivery. I had a wonderful high risk doctor and we talked about my delivery at length because he also had concerns about putting pressure on my heart. So we induced two weeks early and believe it or not the day I went my heart rate was in the eighties! It had not been in the eighties at all so God was really watching over us! He put in an epideral early so I would not feel the labor and things went very smoothly. I think the main thing is to talk to your doctor and be on the same page for that day and then do a lot of praying! It works. Good luck!
