Is an implantable cardioverter defibrillator a good option?

Is an implantable cardioverter defibrillator a good option in this situation,? My Dad lives in Ireland. He is 82 and in good health. He plays golf 3-4 times a week. He collapsed and suffered sudden cardiac arrest. He was playing golf when this event occurred. His friend started CPR and the manager  grabbed a defibrillator and restarted his heart. He was put in an induced coma and  placed on full life support. He was not expected to make it. Against all odds he survived. He is still recovering but is off life support. He is alert, reading, talking and eating. The friend, manager and close access to a defibrillator is what saved his life. The follow up medical care and divine inspiration helped him pull through.

As mentioned in the other post, yes, this is what an ICD is designed for
