Is it normal to have slight chest pain when you exercise?

So I just recently started running again and I am slightly overweight (5'11 188 lbs). Today I went running for about 4 miles and felt pretty out of breath by the end and when I finished for a few seconds my chest felt a slight little bit of pain and still a little bit from time to time. It is not exclusively near my heart or on the left side but my heart is beating pretty fast. Is this normal for someone who has not ran that much in a while and is out of shape. I am 18 and also have very bad anxiety and heart palpitations and got my heart checked about two weeks ago with a GP and got an EKG/ECG that came back normal as well as bloodwork. Should I be worried? I am not having trouble breathing or anything and I don't feel chest pain but I am very worried please help me out thanks!

Hello.  Well, awesome that you are out there exercising again!  Remember though, you have to ease back into it.  Don't go too hard too fast.  It's easy to do this if you used to exercise because we have muscle memory.  But we can hurt ourselves this way so write out a plan of slowly rebuilding stamina and strength.

So, two weeks ago you had a check up for your heart.  Also awesome.  Smart to do that before beginning an exercise program.

So, I understand why you are concerned.  I would call your doctor and report this symptom.  Stable angina causes something similar to what you describe.  Exertion causes chest pain, squeezing, burning feelings.  But yours is not going away.  Now, we can hyper focus on things and start to feel all sorts of pain.  This is a real thing that happens.  But I would want to report the exercise induced chest pain.  I do know that I can occasionally get this feeling in my chest when I'm really pushing above my level.

Things like your cholesterol normal?  Your blood pressure?  I think I'd follow up with the doctor.  Exercise is the ticket to a healthy heart for most people but you want to work it out safely. :>)  Check in with your doctor on this.
