massive heart palps

I am a 43 year old male, in great physical shape, not overweight, eat pretty healthy. Over the summer last year I thought I was having a heart attack, my heart was squeezing, relaxing then squeezing again which went on for a while. I called 911 & while waiting it got worse & then I became sweaty, neauseous & threw up. When they began a work up of me they saw that I was having PVC's & brought me to the hospital. The PVS were high, my pressure was through the roof yet the enzyme test came back normal & they discharged me after a few hours. I went to a cardiologist who did an EKG, echo & stress test all of which came back normal. No structural damage to the heart, no blockages. I am on Metoprolol (spelling??) 100 mg/day. I was also prescribed Adivan for sleeping, Xanaax for anxiety which my doctor is attributing to these episodes. They are a daily occurence, happening throughout the day, my heart squeezes, relaxes, squeezes, like someone holding you finger in a closed grip and a sudden squeze from time to time.Any comments please?

Did you see a cardiologist?  I have both PVCs and anxiety, and had the best recommendations for medications from a cardiologist than from my family doctor. I still get palps some and have about 7000 to 8000 PVCs a day, but I'm doing a lot better than I was.

Sounds like your are doing the right things, getting professional testing and advice.

Has your doctor(s) given you any prognosis as to what's next and when?  It may be that you need to take the meds you are on for a bit longer before seeing any real affect.. or maybe you need to go back to try something else.

The meds for anxiety or any emotional problem usually take some time an adjustment in my experience... don't need them myself (to my mind) but know from family members who do that it takes a lot of work to get the relief needed from medications.
