pac's as result of ablation

I had ablation done 3 months ago and have been experiencing pac's. Never had them before the ablation proceedure.
Is this normal. can you get rid of pac's by having another ablation proceedure?

I had an ablation done Jan 18 2017 for atrial flutter they initially thought was avnrt. I spent 6 weeks with bigeminy Pacs non stop . It was maddening . Then it stopped and I felt so relieved . Then 3 weeks later they started again!!! I'm now almost 5 months out and get no answers from drs. They can't figure out why it's happened.
Note": I did not get the pacs prior to my ablation. The occasional skipped beat here snd there never anything like this. Not on meds. Got the ablation because I have issues wth meds. Hate living like this. Google everywhere and people say it csn happy during the 3 months blanking period but I'm way past that . This csnt be my life now :(

So I had an ablation for an SVT of 280-300 bpm.  I had one SVT, then funny feelings in my chest on toprol, then the ablation, which they think was sucessful.  But my weird feelings continue.  WHAT IS THIS?  I never had any fluttering or hollow feelings, or uncomfortable feelings before the SVT, but I have ever since, both before and after the ablation.  

The ablation was about 10 days ago, they ablated a pathway, and I tolerated the procedure and healing well.

I am coming up to the 3 month marker on May 2, 2009. Have had premature atrial fib contractions but the stop after 15-20 sec. This repeats several times daily. I dont know if its the meds (Tikosyn and coreg) or if it stops because the proceedure is deeemed successful.
Have been told by the EP that the Tikosyn will be reduced in June (4 months after the proceedure)  and will switch from Coreg to Toporol. The  Warfarin will stop 9 months after ablation if all goes well.

If this will encourage you in any way, at the 2-month post PVI ablation mark I'm completely off my rhythm control meds (Flecainide) for the first time in 2 years. I am REALLY looking forward to my next MRI in 4 weeks. If the results are good then I get off the Warfarin too. I know what you mean Kochsele, I'll take rate control meds over blood thinners any day of the week but they are a necessary evil during the healing process.

The skipped, extra, and premature beats might be there after I'm healed, but I've had them most of my life and they can't hurt me. Afib can and it was ruining my life. If you aren't having afib after your ablation, then that's a huge victory!

Hang in there, let your body heal, and I hope we are all afib and drug free in a few months!

I am in the same boat as you.  I had my ablation 15 days ago and have exactly the same symtoms as you.  My doc said that at the 3 month mark we will reevaluate and decide whether to do the ablation again, continue with meds, or the other option is that I am cured.  I have been on a few different meds now and one that I am starting to like is propafenone.  I take metropolol along with it and most of the time it works well.  Good luck.

Thank you for the info. I am encouraged hearing  that over time these sensations will improve. I have noticed that the last time I took Tikosyn I experienced pac"s. possibly as a side effect or perhaps being more sensitive to the sensations. The plan is to cut the dosage and see the reaction. I just hate taking this stuff. By the way it comes with blood thinners. which is a story on to its own. My best to all.

I had a PVI ablation 2 months ago for afib and I noticed an increase in my PACs and PVCs right after the procedure. I had these for years before my ablation and they were usually my warning sign for afib. I would have a bunch of these beats and then afib would start. I'm very, very thankful that I've not had afib since the ablation.

Since the ablation, I've noticed the premature beats are worse on certain days and gone on other days. Mine seem to be worse around ovulation and my period (sorry guys) but that was also when my afib was out of control. However, they don't really bother me but maybe that's because I'm used to them. Only the really strong ones that hit while I'm working out seem to catch my attention.

It does seem to be getting better though and my EP told me the same thing Brooke wrote to you ... they are common, they will go away as the heart heals, the heart just needs some more time...

I hope yours start to fade quickly and that your afib is gone for good!

Yes it was for Atrial Fibrillation. I actually feel worse since the proceedure, which was done Feb 2, 2009. I am getting premature atrial contractions as well as premature ventrical contractions.

Everyone is unique...I honestly cannot give you a magic number. If I were to give you a ball park figure, some 3 months and others up to 6 months+.

Was this an ablation for Atrial Fibrillation? I only ask because you mention Tikosyn, which I am currently taking for Afib.

Thank you for the info. How many months of irritable feeling should one expect to experience. I didnt have the pac's prior to ablation. And am taking coreg and tikosyn, they do not appear to work effectivly to reduce the symtoms.

Hello...

What you are experiencing is pretty common for people post ablation. Hopefully, with time you will notice a decreased amount of ectopic beats. During an ablation procedure areas in your heart are burned. During the months that follow, your heart is "irritable" and ectopy is almost guaranteed...

Unfortunately, there are no ablation procedures that are done for PAC's. If over the next several months, there is no decrease...you will have to decide to either live with them or inquire about medication to help you with your symptoms.
