Palpitations from PPI or food ?

Have been taking acebutolol for many years for mitral valve prolapse with premature beats and it has worked very well. Last year right after a colonoscopy which they gave me sorbitol as part of the prep, I almost immediately developed silent reflux. Ent put me on prilosec 40mg for about six months. I tapered off gradually. In early November I felt the need to go back on the prilosec hoping to only take it a couple of weeks. About that time I also decided to eat healthier and began replacing chips and cookies with apples. About a week after this I began getting heart skips after eating. Stopped the apples asap, continued prilosec, went to cardiologist where everything checked out fine. Now six weeks later I still can't eat without palpitations! A couple of tums will quiet it down, but I'm freaking! An MRI last year (done for something else) said may be a small hiatal hernia present. Did I get something stirred up with the raw apples? It's something I usually don't eat because I'm not a fan of raw fruit. I don't want to stay on PPI's. Now what? Anyone?

I've never had that happen from Magnesium.    I take a lot more than 200.  Sounds like anxiety to me.

Ok, took 200 mg magnesium glycinate after supper Xmas eve. Shortly after my face began tingling really scaring me. What was that about? Haven't taken any more since. It's almost midnight and heart has been skipping since 9:30 but did well all day till then. Seems it didn't start till I started the omeprazole this time back first part of November.. Wonder if I should get off it? Didn't have heart problems with it before though. I'm going nuts here.

Try magnesium taurate, or Magnesium Glycinate.  These are much easier to break down and digest than magnesium oxide.  I love Magnesium Glycinate, it's been a life saver.  I get it from amazon.

Thanks. I've been reading about the magnesium. I am a 62 year old female but I avoid large doses of calcium after getting kidney stones, therefore I got a multi that only has 200 mg calcium and 100 mg magnesium. I think I will try supplementing with a little more magnesium till I can get myself off the prilosec.

p.s., there is a lot conflicting info about beta blockers helping with ectopic beats (palps).  In certain scenarios, beta blockers can make them worse, when the palps are enhanced by a slower heart rate.

palps come and go, and people will often blame food.  In other words, it might not be the food.

I was diagnosed with a hiatel hernia too, via endoscopy.  Many people have this, seems to me more the norm.  My PVCs come and go, I really stopped blaming my HH.

Another thing to think about is that PPIs will deprive you of certain nutrients, magnesium being a big one, and low mg levels can have a profound effect on palps.  I believe the mechanism is that since you produce a lot less stomach acid, you can't break these down as-well, and mg is hard to break down.
