Question on elevated BP since Afib attack?

I had an afib attack on memorial day, converted on an Amiodarone drip was sent home on amiodarone pills for 3 weeks, as well as 25mg of Toprol, 20mg Xarelto, and 25mg of HCTZ.  They d/c'd the amio when I went to a EP doc said I should hot have been sent home on it.  I have been having issues with my diastolic number being over 100 when I walk short distances and even just sitting there.  On Friday my BP jumped up to 180/90 while I was at my desk for about an hour.  I admit to being neurotic about taking my BP 3 times a day(morning, lunch & evening) since my attack.  Do my BP meds need increased? or changed?  I have been having more palpitations lately (usually when I am sitting still).  I have had an issue with my head feeling full in the back and on the top(it comes and goes-like my bottom number getting elevated), also having an issue with my ankles swelling since my attack since I went back to work last week after being on short term.  I would just like to feel human again.  I am tired of being sick and not being in control

I do not know much about the meds you are taking and what their side effects might be but I would definitely talk to your doctor about your swollen ankles.  I know one reason for them to be swollen may be due to the heart struggling a bit to pump efficiently though I am not certain this is the only reason but considering your issues I think it definitely worth bringing up.  It may just be temporary as your heart recovers from the afib episode but please do bring this up with your doctor.  Take care and keep us posted on how you are doing.

It read your note to say you've been off Amiodarone for a while, so any side-effects it can have (I understand it can have some wild ones)  and the 25 mg Toprol (assumed slow release) is in my experience a low dose.  I don't know the other meds, but I'd think discussing with your doctor increasing your beta blocker to 50 mg may be worth the effort.  The down side is beta blockers also have side effects and give some people a lot of trouble.  50 mg or less do not cause me trouble.
