Pvcs getting better, I found out how!!!

Hello  all I have been struggling with pvcs for a while on and off. I have been freaked out and went to the er many times. After alot of struggle and time spent trying to find a reason, I think I finally found it! I stopped drinking soda "caffeine free"  and also stopped eating chips with msg, and now have had only 1 pvc today. I also cut back on sugar products and spend more time reading ingredients. I wenbt from 10-40 a day to 1 a day. I think the carbonation was irritating my ibs and also causing my heart to get irritated. IM so happy my pvcs have gone down.  I hope this helps someone.

They actually came back but only at night. From what I gather I think sometimes i trigger them via my subconscious mind. I have read that anxiety can be triggered without the person even knowing. I think thats most of my problem.

You're right about potassium but it's almost impossible for magnesium to cause you harm unless you're an idiot about it and take huge amounts. Taking a supplement of 50% RDA will do no harm.

Obviously always check with your doctor to be on the safe side.

How are your PVCs now?

people have to understand not to take supplements unless you are low on the vitamin/mineral. Taking to much mag/pot could harm you.

Thank you very much for responding. I am currently on a veggie and fruit only diet in hopes that eliminating meat will help my problem. I am currently not taking any vitamin supplements.

What's your daily diet like? Also do you take any supplements?

i have had episodes of  pvc's and pac's probably most of my life, but in the last 6 months they have become increasingly worse. They are affecting my quality of life. I have recently undergone so many test on my heart only to be told they are normal, and the cardiologist have told me over and over that the irregular heart rate is not dangerous .  This still does nothing to improve my quality of life, I just want to feel normal again. I would appreciate any advise you guys have. Thank you kindly.

There's no doubt in my mind that (most people's) PVCs/PACs are caused by diet and lifestyle. I hate hearing doctors say they're 'normal'. The odd one on an EKC may be normal, but feeling them consistently every day is not normal. It may not be dangerous to your health at all, but it's a sign that something is not right in your body.

Anyway, I posted a thread yesterday after a night of hell. I ate a big tin of Pringles before bed and with that came very bad acid reflux and bloating. Whichever way I tried to lie down, my heart would go mental. PACs/PVCs constantly until I sat straight up or stood up. I think it makes sense that if you're bloated or inflamed it can cause your heart to be irritable. And eating bad food/carbonated drinks definitely cause bloating and inflammation in the body. So yesterday, I ate super clean and drank plenty of water. Before bed I took a big gulp of Gaviscon and amazingly.. no reflux, no dodgy heart. Slept like a baby. I can't believe I didn't see this sooner. This has happened a few times and looking back, every time I had bad acid reflux.

The problem is finding the cause can be super tricky. It seems like there's a few obvious things to avoid but what works for you may not work for someone else. One person could be absolutely fine with coffee, MSG and sodas yet have a vitamin deficiency causing their heart troubles. There is so many things that could potentially cause your heart to act up, or a combination of those things. The best way it to cover all bases. I've seen so many people say they've 'tried everything' but look at their diet and it's full of crap. Very few people really know how to eat properly.

Anyway, too much rambling. I hope you've found your trigger.

you might have a good point here on the carbonation.  Back when I used to get a ton of PVCs I was drinking a lot of diet soda and coffee.  Cut all that out, only drink water.  Around the same time, I had a gradual but significant reduction in PVCs.  Around march of this year I got on a kick of drinking carbonated water and had the most significant uptick I've had since 2009.  I decided to go back to only water and they reduced about the same time.

Now i don't know if there is a smoking gun here.  PVC flares are very hard to pin down to an outside environmental factor.  It's notorious amongst PVC sufferers that when you think you've gotten a flare up under control, they come back again weeks, days, months, or years later.  No rhyme or reason.

Thanks for posting your experience!
