Recovery time from ICD (defibrillator) implant

Having just had a ICD (defibrillator) implanted in my left chest/clavicle area a week ago I'm just wondering how long it's taken others for the implant location to heal and how long I can expect left shoulder/chest pain?

I realize about not lifting my left arm above my head or lifting anything over 10 pounds but how long can I expect this soreness to last? I'm already dreading the replacement in 8 years or so! Sleeping seems to be the hardest part of all this.

Thanks for any experiences you've had with this.

HI I hope you are feeling better now. I had my ICD implanted in Feb. It still bothers me at the incision site however the scar is still healing and continues to scab over. As far as range of motion I got that back fully by one month after surgery. I hated the sleeping on my right side but I now can sleep on my left. I do find it hard to do push ups since I feel like I'm stretching my skin across the site and the incision is still tender.
