Skipped heart beats

I have always had the occasional "skipped beat" usually as falling asleep, however last few months they have become more regular, and now seemingly since I am aware of them more are occurring every few minutes. I have had two ECG both normal however one showed sinus tarccicardia of 135 bpm as I was really anxious having the ECG. I've also had heaps of blood tests which doesn't show any reason for the palpitations. I'm booked in for a 24 hour holter monitor, echo and appointment with the cardiologist but have to wait three weeks. I suffer from anxiety, am 32 year old female. Every night I have felt like going to the hospital worrying about these missed beats, but last time I did they did bloods and and ecg and said everything was normal. I am just hating having to wait three weeks to get checked out and am extremely worried. Does anyone have any knowledge around these skipped/ ectopic beats? Thank you

Hi just wanted to update. I saw the cardiologist today and holter monitor showed some extra beats and echo was normal. I'm very relieved. The Dr said I can go on a low dose of beta blockers if the extra beats become to much, I'm going to see how I go now I know there is nothing physically wrong

I get violent pvc's. Sometimes once or more a day, other times I can go a week or 2 and feel great, it's truly hell to have something so debilitating and not know when it will strike

Skipping a beat occasionally is no reason to worry but if it happens too often, it is something that needs medical attention immediately. When the heart beats too slowly and a person feels symptoms like dizziness, fainting, etc., then a pacemaker is usually needed for treatment. So i would suggest to get diagnosis from Electrophysiologists near to you. I would recommend Cardiologists/ Electrophysiologists at Narayana Health who are very famous for Arrhythmia treatments.

Kate_sybella, the fact that you've had a normal ecg means that your risk is low.  My doctor told me that originally with mine (I'm just getting checked out again as I've had a change in symptoms but have been told probably still ok, waiting more tests).  I said that the skipped beats didn't happen while having the ecg but the doctor said the ecg still tells them a lot about the health of the heart.  So try to relax.  Your tests will come around soon enough and I expect will be fine.  The vast majority of skipped beats are benign unless there is a history of heart disease, for normal healthy hearts the skips are almost always benign.

You shall be fine.
Thank you I have had all the tests done done and waiting to see the cardio on the 26th. Would they generally phone if there was anything serious? Had them done a couple of weeks ago.

Hi Kate. I'm 24 .I have PVC like 50  per day. Triggered by stress, heat, soda etc.. You shud know ur triggers and avoid them. From wat my doctor said. Pvc,pac, ectopic beats are benign if you have normal structure heart. Just relax wen this hapen. Youll be fine. Benign heart palpitation are so annoying but HARMLESS. FOR normal heart. So let your doctor tell you the result. I hope youll be fine

Njl. Do your pvc ever cause attacks? I am a 30 year old athletic male who just developed pvc and pacs 3 years ago out of the blue. But with these i sometimes experience attacks were my resting heart rate lying down or sitting will be 170-190 bpm. Also during these attaxks my vision gets blurry, arms and fingers and feet get numb and tingly, dizziness and my blood pressure gets to about 180/110 approximately.

Ive been to the ER about 10 times over the past two years and every time I go in they tell me my EKG is fine, blood works fine..x ray of chest is fine.

Soi began meeting with a primary and cardiologist about the issues and did a month long Holter monitor and two 48 hour Holter monitors. Each time even during the attacks they said only pvc and pacs were present...however i feel like they are SVT attacks.

The ER tells me each time its an anxiety attack. However these attacks arent typically occurring during moments of anxiety. They only occur when i drink caffeine, exercise or get my heart rate up ( even slow jogs), and during very hot days. However they've also occurred when lying down watching movies at home.

Is what you experience similar? Or do you just experience the palpitations?
Thanks for your response :) i will try and relax and wait to see the doctor, I definitely think certain things trigger it like caffeine and stress
Yes. It happens to me during exercise. Even walking up stairs. Well anxiety is the most trigger I believe. Anxiety cause our stomach to be irritated. If you have severe anxiety you must seek professional help then. The doctr only can tell  if its pvc pac or svt. You can get second opinion to and u shud avoid the trigger.
It took me 6 years to be diagnosed with SVT. Unfortunately unless your on a monitor during an episode it's hard to catch.
