Airy or hollow feeling in chest? Heart problem?

It feels like someone blew up a balloon and put it in my chest, pushing all the organs and stuff aside so there's just a hollow and airy feeling left over. Sometimes it's in my throat, too. I went to get an EKG done, but since I was nervous, my heart was beating a little fast and strong so if there was any arythmia or problem, it wouldn't show up. Sometimes I get these feelings like my heart's skipping beats and I want to say its either because of PVCs or PACs, but like I said, they dont happen during EKGs so they can't be diagnosed.  They won't let me take a Holter monitor because I'm young and because the EKGs are all clean. So, my questions are: 1. Does anyone else with arythmias have that airy/hollow feeling in your chest? Or does anyone know what it's caused by? 2. Can EKGs pick up a heart problem even if your heart's beating normal during it? 3. Besides the airy feeling, I'm pretty much symptomless. I don't get dizzy or nauseous. Does no symptoms mean there's nothing to worry about? And this one is kind of out there, but what is V-Tach? I hear people say its a bunch of PVCs in a row, but then I hear other people say its just a really fast heartbeat that starts in the ventriculars. How can it be both at the same time?
Thank you for your time!

I have the same symptoms as you: feeling of air in the heart. Like emptyness, or a hollow heart.
To answer your questions, I went and got an ECG, but the results were perfectly fine. I continued with the symptoms, and then my doctor recomended a blood chem test. My results were perfectly fine. Afterwards, I went to get a Holter installed to read abnormal lectures of my heart. Surprisingly, the results were fine.
Now, after that (during summer of last year), my symptoms went away. Now, I'm not sure how good the results were, specially for the holter (as If my doctor was keeping stuff from me; however, I trust her.
After summer, as I was saying, it went away. But for the past few weeks, this feelings have returned.
If you can get a Holter installed on you, and if that gets any readings at all, please tell me what you got. I'm seventeen now, and was at the day of the Holter installation.

Best regads,

Feelings like you have swallowed your own heart or.you are missing your heart. These symptoms of hallowness inside the heart are common  and are just medically undiagnosed. I want to believe it is more to do with emotional imbalances and less to do with something physically wrong . Causes may be anxiety, stress, lack of sleep, some.food high in caffeine, hormonal changes espacially in women. The feeling normally goes away by itself.

I thought i was the only one with this feeling. Ive recently started getting this feeling for the past few months on and off but lately its been pretty intense, I always make trips to the E.R. Just to be sent back home telling me its just anxiety. But the airey feeling is very nerve wrecking, anyone figure what it could be?

I've had something similar for the past couple months - almost constantly.. Chest feels hollow and my heart is rattling around inside it. More so when I'm laying down. At the same time I feel stress up and down my neck and am fatigued.
Well, your chest *is* hollow, in that it contains the lungs, which are filled with air.  That is normal.

However, the heart cannot, absolutely cannot, 'rattle around' in your chest.  It is contained in a special space called the mediastinum, which keeps anything from rattling around, and is surrounded snugly by the pericardium, which is the grey covering in this illustration:

You may be suffering from anxiety, which tends to magnify ordinary bodily sensations.  If this continues to be a problem, a little counseling could help.
Hi All,

I too get feel sometimes air bubbled in my chest/lungs especially when you go in pollutted environment and when you are in room where it has some less fresh oxygen

I have been suffering this from past 2 month due to below bad activities i guess since 2013-2018

Roaming in pollution and traffic(go to office)
do smoke 3-5 cigareetes a day, since 5 years (an average of 2 cigaretes per every) and I do share cigareettes from other
do drink whisky, brandi,Rum,Vodka and beer like once in 2 weeks sine 2013

Now everything is in control

I kinda feeling like my lungs got damaged bit and not functioning properly, am I correct?

Just want to know what is the name of this disease, and how to cure this?
What are the natural remedies to cure?

When I get AFib I also get the feeling I am blown up with air and cannot breathe it out.  I too have wondered whether it could be down to anxiety when an attack kicks in......

Ok. The only thing I might add to this is that the Airey feeling could be anxiety. When I am really stressing,  I get that.   If this is what s going on,  just try relaxing,  or deep breathing.  I also use light exercise to kill anxiety.  Cut back on coffee and alcohol,  and if you smoke,  quit.

Pvcs and pacs are technically heartbeats but they are initiated from a spot that is not where the heart typically initiates a beat.  So vt is a fast heart beat that originates in the ventricles but it is still a run of pvcs that make up vt.    It is when the ventricles take over beating the heart.  Though if the run is short lived being just a few beats or less then 30 seconds it is considered nonsustained and not a threat.  Many people with very healthy hearts have short little 3-5 or so beat runs that do not give off any other symptoms except what they feel.  The airy feeling is probably some thing to do with a pvc though it could be you have gas that is pushing at your organs.  Acid reflux and stomach gas can irritate the vagus nerve causing it to trigger the heart into having pvcs.  So maybe try a few antacids or see if you can burp and feel the airiness go away.

As for the EKG they can tell a lot about the health of the heart from it and even whether or not someone had a heart attack even where in the heart there might be damage so if your EKG was normal than they percieve that your heart is healthy and though you do likely have some sort of ectopic beats, pacs or pvcs, they would need to see them to diagnose you with them but even if you do have them they are not considered a threat to you.  Just do your best to try and manage any stress or stomach issues and you may find your pvcs decrease or go away all together.  No matter what just try and not stress about them as it will make them worse. Take care.
