Strange heart beat/twisting

I have been getting strange twisting sensations of my heart over the past couple of years. It's difficult to explain the feeling but it is like my heart is twisting up inside my chest. It doesn't "hurt" per say but it is very noticable. Almost like twitching. It can happen at any time, while eating, resting or at work when I'm sitting down at the computer. Sometimes I get several at a time, lasting for only a few seconds each, and at other times just once. I can actually feel the "twisting/twitching" in my throat at times. I have mentioned it to my doctors in the past but no one seems to interested. I have had cardiograms which never caught the occurance. Any ideas as to what this is? Thanks!

I have the same thing. And like you I feel it in my tummy first. Kinda like butterflies or something and the the fluttery, skippy odd heartbeats. I hate it. Some days I have only a few others I have a dozen. It also seems to happen more when I lay on my back. I've seen a cardiologist who made me feel stupid for being there. I've had electrocardiograms and echocardio's and they tell me all is normal. Wish it would stop.

I have had those feelings too, I really hate it when I feel it in my throat. I wore a holter monitor and it showed benign PAC's. I can almost tell when I will have one, my tummy feels "odd" and then seconds later, I will have the twist/flutter. It is no fun.

Hello, I know exactly what you are explaining. I have had the same thing happen to me for years. It's almost like my heart does a flip flop or something and when it starts to flutter i feel it in my throat like right in between my clavicles where my throat dents in. Its like it makes my throat feel full or something. I was diagnosed with mitral valve prolapse about 3 years ago. I am a 29 year old female. I wore a heart monitor home my cardiologist was able to pick up the episodes. He said I was having PAC's (premature atrial contractions) and that it was nothing to worry about. Hope this helped. If you have anymore questions I might be able to help

I use to feel a similar sensation for several years until I finally went to the doctor and suggested to them that I have it checked out.  They did some test and found out I was experiencing PVC's (premature ventricular contractions) in which they said, in my case, was benign in nature, that my heart is structurally normal.

Of course, I'm not suggesting you have any arrythimias.  But, if you are having any concerns at all, you most definately deserve to know what is going on, even if it's not dangerous.  It can help put your mind at ease too.

You say that you 'have had cardiograms which never caught the occurance.'  I have heard other people on this forum mention that sometimes their occurances were not caught at the time they were being tested.

I am sure someone will post shortly that will be likely to help you.

Pleasant thoughts and Blessings to you.
