Tachycardia, palpitations, feeling of being unable to breathe

Recently I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism. This was after having blood tests done for a variety of symptoms, including palps, tachycardia, difficulty doing physical activity, shortness of breath, chest pains, coughing, etc. Just 20 minutes ago I was coughing in a croupy way, and after a while my heart rate elevated. I became short of breath, and I had a few episodes where it felt like my heart stopped and I couldn't breathe for a second. I stood up and walked up stairs and that was enough to give me a tachycardial episode, requiring me to lean against a wall to wait till it calmed down. After some more shortness of breath and another episode where it felt like my heart stopped, I'm feeling a little better, but very anxious (I have anxiety).I am wearing an event monitor but I didn't capture the bad part of it, as I started recording too early. I have a doppler in a week or two and a stress test in about a month, but I honestly do not feel safe at all. Can these heart episodes really be explained via just hyperthyroidism? I was already in a hospital for an episode where all my limbs went numb and tingly following bad chest pain that spread up through my neck, but the blood test and ekg they did there had no adverse results. They said it was not a cardiac event and that it was probably just anxiety. Opinions? Suggestions? I could really use some help here.
I'm an 18 year old male with reflux that has been acting up badly lately. Additional information can be found on my profile.

Is your diagnosis hyper- or hypo- thyroidism?  (you've used both terms)

Sure, anxiety can present itself through a variety of very disturbing heart attack like symptoms [I've been to E.R. twice with such attacks, thinking I was having a heart attack].

Clearly you should cut out caffeine, and eat healthy (avoid sugars and low fiber foods as they tend to lead to roller coaster blood sugar levels which can get your mood to spiral out of control).  Try to build in some calming routines (reading, puzzle books) to help settle you down when you start to feel anxious.  Long walks may be helpful if that's physically safe for you.

Do you sleep well?

It is Hypothyroidism sorry. I was told by my doctor to not do physical activity until I got on the thyroid meds. I just sent in an event monitor recording that was abnormal and required me to do a follow up on the spot recording, which sounded EXTREMELY different than normal. I'm not sure what they would do if there was truly something wrong but I'm very worried. The worst part is that I've had far worse symptoms before, I just haven't been able to catch them. I have been sleeping more than usual, probably due to the thyroid problem. I've dealt with severe anxiety for years, and this isn't just anxiety. I'm sure it's playing a part of course.

My mom was on synthroid for over a decade for hypothyroidism, I imagine that's the sort of med you'll be put on (a bit surprised there'd be much delay but I suppose there's a reason).

So all that, even the heart stopping thing, can be explained via hypothyroidism?
