We will need to wait 12 weeks for the first consultation and any tests will take another 3 - 4 months thats once they get by the legal stage of releasing data on those who died, this is normal procedure but thats another 6- 8 weeks. The waiting game is a nightmare especially when you cant rest easy until you have an idea of whats going on. Im 4 months pregnant the now too and I cant enjoy this time for fear of dropping dead.
I hope your sisters are getting on ok, let me know how they get on. Sometimes I feel like getting them to put in in a defib for peace of mind - the cardiologist doesn't agree.
Thanks for your help - you know what your talking about :)
Glad you are getting the testing done.
My uncle was not biologically related to me but my half sisters are looking into getting the gen testing. Unfortunately, here in the US, medicine is focused more at treatment than prevention and ditection unless the price is right.
What is the time frame for your test? At least once you know, you can either rest easy or put in a defibrilator. The waiting game is murder though, huh? Best of luck.
I had ecg's done which read " non specific s and t abnormality" (also a worry!) the doc said they were ok though. My mum died at 49 last year and her cousin died of the same at 32 about 4 years ago. We are going for genetic tests although the waiting list is long I stay in the Uk so these things take time unfortunatly.
So you have a family history of this too, did you have genetic tests done? I do worry alot about my heart since my mums death, its very scary.
Thanks for all your help
Also, 89 PVC's is not very many compared to most.
What age were those in your family who died of sudden cardiac death? If they were over 50, there's less reason to worry. My uncle died when he was 21 of it so that's a different story and there's surely a gene mutation in the family genes.
If you have a family history of sudden cardiac death then you should get a throrough workup. There is new testing to diagnose those who carry the gene (a heart tissue biopsy). It seems that if you don't have Long-QT or WPW or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, the cause it usually a problem with the tissue of the heart. If you really want piece of mind, aggressivly push your doctors to rule out all chances.
Thanks for all your help. I was in hospital with palpatations and I was discharged as they weren't concerend I asked for a copy of the tests when I got home and had a look at them I got a fright, as I had 98 of these beats which seemed a lot. I just worry sometimes about my heart due to family history of sudden death.
Thanks for all your help its much appreciated
totally harmless. They are one of the only benign conditions I can think of that feel so aweful. If you have had a heart attack and have scar tissue in the heart, then a premature beat can be dangerous because it jumps the tracks and races around the heart in a disorganized manner. But your condition is totally normal. It might be as many as one in 200 people who have these chronically so it's very very common.
Sorry to see you haven't seen any helpful inputs.
Did your doctor not give you any advice relative to the monitor finding? That's your first and best source of information.
You're young and strong, think positive and check it out with your doctor(s).
