Vitamin D and Palps?

I don't know if I'm blaming it on something else again, but every time I take a vitamin D (1000 iu's) a couple of hours later I get some pvc's.  Anyone observe a reaction to D?

I had the same problem with vitamin d and PVCs. Went to different doctors, visited ER several times, had a holter monitor for a couple days and ran on treadmill for a stress test. Doctors told me that everything is in a normal range, but if PVCs bother me, they can prescribe beta blockers. I understand the consequences of taking beta blockers and did not want to mask the symptoms, instead I tried to find the reason for having PVCs. Here is what I have realized: vitamin d3 is a synthetic hormone that cannot be processed by organism without synthesizing it. To accomplish this process vitamin d takes a sagnificant amount of magnesium from the body to complete the transformation. If a person is deficient in magnesium (about 80% of population) then he or she would start experiencing palpitations anxaety and PVCs. I am taking 400 mg of magnesium citrate. But do not take magnesium oxide, it is not absorbable by the body.

Alexlink, how much calcium do you take? It's important to take both calcium and magnesium. I think (not sure) that you should be getting about half as much magnesium calcium.  But with vitamin D3 in the picture, that would make it hard to know how much magnesium to take.  Confusing.

I stopped the SSRI's because I was still feeling anxious whenever I palpitated, but granted not as bad as prior to taking them.  The rest of the time I felt mentally off as if my brain wasn't mine.  I just didn't feel solid in my thinking like I do when I'm off the drug.  At one point I was getting increased pvc's, and although I wasn't reacting as severely to them, I was getting concerned with the possibility that the SSRI was contributing to the increased pvc's.   So I weaned off of them over a very long period of time.

I took an SSRI for two years.  I had  increased anxiety and internal shaking at first, a few hours after taking the  SSRI.  Later, I began to have visible hand shaking as well. My doctor had me split the SSRI dose into two halves, morning and night. It didn't help.  I was told to taper off, since it was only making my anxiety worse, and there was some concern about dopamine depletion as well, which was causing the tremors.  I have anxiety issues now, along with daily & nightly heart pounding, but will never take an SSRI again.

"When I was on anti-anxiety meds, I did not have these episodes, however, I no longer take SSRI's so here I am again."

But why did you quit the SSRIs?

I'll give your formula a try, although I'm so crazy lately that everything I put in my body, including any type of food, I react.  I also react just talking about stressful stuff. It may just be a phase.  Thanks for the explanation and I hope your stress diminishes. My best to you.

I went through that with Mg too.  it worked really well at first then seemed to lose its effectiveness.    I mentioned this to someone I know and he said that magnesium shouldn't be taken without calcium.  I'm usually very cynical about nutritional advise so I looked it up and read extensively about it and he is right.

High Ca drives Mg out of cells.  The should be taken together.  Same holds trues the other way around, too much Mg will deplete Ca.  This is why they should be taken together in a proper ratio at the same time.  Mg and Ca both play significant roles in cellular muscle conduction.  If either is out of whack it can cause problems.

It makes sense when you think about it.  With your experience on the vitamin D, calcium uptake would have been higher which could drive cellular magnesium levels down and could increase the likelihood of ectopic beats.

I switched to something called SloMag.  SloMag is something doctors will recommend because it has Mg and Ca together in the same tab for the reasons I stated above.  The other thing I do is I still take my 400mg Mg Glycente, but I take a 600mg Ca+D at the same time.  This has worked better for me.   I primarily stick with the SloMag most days.  On some days I will take the Mg Gl+Ca+D when my heart is acting up

Mg and Ca need to be balanced out because if either of those is in much higher concentration than the other it will deplete the other.

This week things have been acting up the most they have in about 12 months.  I'm thinking it's related to all the major stress I've had over the past 3 months.  So I will be sticking with the more potent Mg Gl+Ca+D

Mg is very important though.  The American diet/processed foods have hardly any Mg.  Te American diet also does everything possible to drive Mg out too, with caffeine and too much Ca the big culprits.  Supplementing is a good idea.  Maybe try balancing out the Mg with Ca and see what that does?  I think the SloMag would be really good to try it out.  It's relatively low dosing so you can take up to 3 per day if it's helping/tolerable.

That may be why.  I had said I was feeling better taking magnesium powder everyday, then after a couple of months I started getting huge flip flops followed by tachy.  While taking the mag, I would only take a little calcium and D occasionally.  I stopped the mag. now. Then I started taking just D only to get pvc's every time I took it.    :P :P :P :P :P :P :P
Cannot put my finger on anything concrete, and I've been torturing myself for years to find the cause or remedy.  Sadly, there's no such concrete anwer for me.

Vitamin D affects Calcium uptake.  Calcium plays a big role in how heart muscle condcuts impulses.  Maybe that's the connection.

Well we seem to be suffering from the same sort of things.  I just read your post about waking up with vibration and fast rate.  This has been happening to me for years and every night now for the past 4 nights.  I wake up half hour after I fall asleep with those symptoms.  Fall asleep again then half hour later, it repeats.  Possible issues with the vagus nerve or ANS.  Whatever it is, it's extremely annoying and unsettling.  Eating late also affects me as well.  Last night I  thought I'd drink some warm milk right before bed to settle my nervous system.  No luck, it still happened.  When I was on anti-anxiety meds, I did not have these episodes, however, I no longer take SSRI's so here I am again.  I've had these episodes (but much less) since I was a teenager.  It may be crazy but I get them more around full moon time.
I don't know what's what anymore, nor what's really affecting/causing or helping my palps.

I have experienced the same thing!!!Doctor said I was low in Vitamin d, so i went and got a d supplement. Almost immediately after the first dose i started noticing pvc's! My husband had been taking it also and said he hadn't noticed any irregular beats. I'm wondering if maybe we might have a sensitivity to it, or perhaps the components of how it is made?
