ablation and success

I went to Cleveland Clinic supposed to be the best 15 years in  a row. They even have valet parking. Heres my question; I want to do the ablation, but the EP said that it doesnt always work. How many people usually have success rates? Next I have SVT, people that have this do they experience both PVC's and PAC's?  I have come to realize the less active that I am the less palpitations that I have, why is that? I traveled the 7 hrs to Cleveland Clinic well worth the drive. If anyone needs a good E.P. or Cardiologist they have the best and they do help with travel; and lodging if needed.

Ditto on Debbiers post....i had my ablation a couple of years ago and would recommend it to anymore.  The big question you need to ask the EP doc is what percentage range you are in because that is how they usually gauge it.  If you aren't in the 70% and up you need to do a little thinking on it.  As far as documented success rates go there are studies out there that give you the ratio depending on the diagnosis so you would need to be very specific.  You did say "next" i have SVT so what was first Heather?  Is is atrial fib? If so the success rate is super high on the procedure for correction.  As for the reason why you are experiencing less during inactive periods is pretty simple you aren't pushing adrenaline thru your body which naturally makes the heart speed up that why people are put on beta blockers to "block".  Great news about that clinic tho...i am out in California and we have some pretty cutting edge hospitals out here but i have never heard of any of them helping with travel and lodging...thats amazing.....

Hi,

I had an ablation on 1/20/10 for SVT, Afib and they were not able to ablate my PVC's.
I cannot comment on the sucessfulness of my ablation because I am only 60 days out.  I had to go on Atenolol after my ablation to control my pvc's.    If SVT is a real problem for you I would go for it.  If my pvc's were ablatable I would do it again tomorrow.   Good Luck!
