my bp is higher than normal as well, is that common with a head/regular cold?

Most cold medication has stimulants in it, so if you're on cold medicine of any kind (including nasal spray) there is a chance that could be the reason behind the increase in bp and hr.  Aside from that, I don't know that there is a clear correlation between the common cold and increased bp and hr.  I recently had a cold and did not notice an increase in hr but never took my bp.
