implantable loop recorder

I have a question i hope someone can help answer. i know a person that has an Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR) and it is suppse to check to see if you are having arrhythmias or not. they say the heart rate is high and low, however due to the complete right bundle branch block they dont think he is having VT it is the same as his base line a few times his HR has been 213 or higher can an ILR not tell the truth about how fast or slow a HR is?
Thank you
Michelle

Yes my little guy they say has some artifact. but there are times there in none and he is saying it is the Complete right bundle branch block the question is and I am not really sure if I am making my self clear or not is it says his heart rate is very high 213 and has been very low (sometimes it does say brady) but it has low like 38 will the ILR not count the beats right. i can understand about hearing the noises and things and it can be a mess up, but what about his HR he is very symptomatic when it is low extremely tired, passed out once and comes close the others he feels the palpitations in his throat and at one point has described to me and my oldest son who was 17 at the time as it was IT FEELS LIKE ONE GRAPE AND ONE STRAWBERRY BEING RUN OVER BY A TIRE  to me not thinking then that is describing pressures his cardiologist just laughed. i fear for my son and he can't even run for 30-45 and at times grabs his chest but he usually drops he has no asthma and was tested and the pulmonologist ran him and saw him drop this is worrisome to her and all of his specialist except his heart doctor feels it is his heart and they need to find out why he is this way all his heart doctor says about his exercise intolerance is that WELL THERE HAS TO BE ONE KID IN THE GROUP THAT DOESN'T''T HAVE THE STAMINA AND IT IS CHRIS. i can't believe it. i have it written in his medical notes from the doctor.
he has had the ILR for over a year now (a year was up in April they were suppose to take it our in Nov of 09 and they changesd their minds
any way thank you for your help

I have a ILR in right now.  The EKG reading from a ILR is not the same as a typical ECG as it is a two lead device. someone well trained to read these types of readings should absolutely be able to read a "real" heart rate from it. when the monitor is "interrogated" at the office, a machine will print out the stored EKGs with the machine's interpretation of what the rhythm was at the time. It very often will read artifact as VTach, which is inaccurate. this is where the cardiologist expertise comes in to then read it and decipher what is artifact and what is not. this type of monitor is designed to help diagnose abnormally high or low heart rates. i am not sure if i have answered your question. i have been dealing with this monitor for the past seven months and have learned quite a bit about them in this time, so please let me know if there is anything else i can offer to help.

First of all thank yo for responding. i was sure if anyone else had this in them or not and i was just taking a chance.
the person who has the implantable device is my 6 year old son. the ILR shows at times that he is in FAST VT however the doctor says that they feel it is because he has a complete right bundle branch block and it also is the same as his baseline reading he had. he has had episodes of brady too and a couple of years ago when his HR dropped  he passed out, but they won't put in a pacemaker until he passes out a few more times with a low HR. when he was ill a few months ago they caught his HR at 38. they say unless he is symptomatic they won't interfere, i try to tell them he can't do exercise for more then 1-2 minutes then he complains of chest pain, he needs a 3 hour nap daily, he feels the HR high complains of palpatations and then when it is low almost passes out.
I was just curious since they are saying there is no arrhythmia that it looks like ine but his blockage is causing it ot say that could his blockage be causing it to say his HR is too high or too low? I try at times to take his pulse but I have to hold the remote on his chest to take a recording and then I have to check his sats. when I do  check it is hard because he has a pause in there. there also have been times where the holter he wore and this said he had some wandering of the artial pacemaker. i get worried for my little guy and i just want him to be okay. i really feel he needs a pacemaker to prevent this from happening, but it is a wait and see
Thanks anyways. I have posted something to this effect on the peds side and no one has had one put in their kids that why i figured  I would try here.

Sorry you are not getting some expert help.  I think very few have experience with implanted heart monitors.

Has the subject person ever worn an external heart monitor?  I believe they are able to see all ventricle beats...I'd guess an implantable would also, but do not know.

The post indicates the person is getting expert medical advice, which seems necessary.  A HR over 200 must be controlled/treated, I believe.
