I have had two separate ablation therapy on my heart now and due to have another in October this year.  I occasionally take tylenol pm for poor sleep and backache when I wake.  Someone mentioned to me that the antihistamine in these tablets may cause some of the problem?

Tylenol PM is just acetemenophen and diphenhydramine (trade name Benedryl).  I do not have access to a copy of the PDR (unless it is available online) but someone who does could check and see if there are any warnings on those two chemicals regarding PVCs.

Small trivia note: diphenhydramine was approved for OTC sleep aid BEFORE it was approved for allergy relief OTC.  Years ago I was having a problem with a rash and didn't have medical insurance.  A friend at Church was a pharmacist.  I asked Doc (what else would he have had as a nickname? ;) ) to recommend something OTC for the rash.  He told me to go get some Nytol.  When I replied "Doc, I have a rash not insomnia." Doc proceeded to inform me about the OTC use approval.  So I got some Nytol, took it, slept like a log (anyone whose reared a baby knows how well they really sleep - can you spell 2:00 a.m. feedings??) and when I got up the rash was gone.

I'm not sure about the active ingredients in Tylenol PM, but I know that cold medicines, in particular, can aggravate PVCs.  You might want to check with your local pharmacist.

Has anyone else noticed that Tylenol PM stirs up their ectopics?
