After ablation, the fast heart rates can reduce as well. It is still possible episode can come. Best advice to wear a holter and see the delta wave present or not?
My tachy stopped after ablation but delta wave came back. It makes me as a wpw pattern but not syndrome. The doctor can prepare and expect what happen in the future if they known your pathway existing. Take care.
I took Inderal while back to 1978 for several years. It was the only med can control my svt. It also good for preventing migraine headache. Many wpw babies take it now. Take care.
I do not know about taking any meds for WPW as I never took any. I found out I had it and like 3 weeks later I was getting an ablation. That was in 2004, and have not had an episode since then. Well at least I don't think so because twice recently I have had very fast heart rates of almost 180, but my WPW episode were usually in the 250 range which leads me to believe these have not been episodes.
I really really agree jondsam and think you should seriously discuss getting an ablation as soon as you can. You wouldn't believe how much it changed my life once I did (well I didn't realize how much it changed my life because I never knew the episodes I was having were really dangerous until I was basically getting the procedure done).
I have heard of inderal being used to treat WPW however never in the long term. My friend and neighbor had WPW and got a catheter ablation to fix the issue. If I had WPW, I would get an ablation as fast as I could. I am no doctor but if you have an accessory pathway in your heart which could potentially cause dangerous tachy arrhythmia's, wouldnt it be more prudent to ablate the problem instead of taking pills??
