i think to an extent it's a good thing. i will always be involved in their lives no matter how much they whine and complain but i will not (unless it is something obviously dangerous or stupid) prevent them from living their lives and making their own mistakes. like the hovering mothering on college campus...once they go to college they will be "on their own". if they need me they can call me (and of course i'll be calling them all the time.)

Yes children do well when parents are involved... yet allow them personal freedom , too many children are bossed around at home and 'told what to do parents should give more choices, instead of ordering and telling a child when he or she should bathe /teeth/ pick up ..they would give them choices and let them be in control ,one intance was this pre teen threw  her dirty clothes around her room so Mom said if you dont bring your clothes down to the laundry room they wont get washed, the girl eventually ran out of clean clothes, then had to wash and fold them herself ...she soon learnt that lesson,
