Severe BM Pain, Thrombosed Hemorrhoid

Hey everyone so a few weeks back I had a painful bm with a bit of spotting. No spotting since then, but in the last few days I've had severe, awful pain when going. I have these fleshy skin tags outside the rectum that are about the size of half a pinkie finger, & very bulbous & sore. The pain when passing stool & afterwards until I can soak it in warm water is nearly unbearable! In the past I had an anal fissure and that pain was nowhere near this bad. So I visited my colorectal surgeon & he had me spread cheeks and looked and said I have a thrombosed hemorrhoid. He said it's unlikely it will get better itself and wants to do a hemorrhoidectamy/removal of all my skin tags and problems down there. I've had so many butt issues the last year or so..first it was the fissure, which healed, now it's this.

I do all the right things, stool softeners, fiber, etc, I'm 32 yo male in good shape. I took regular sitz baths even when I had no symptoms. Both my parents had hemorrhoids removed and they came through it ok. So that eases my mind somewhat. Though they were older than me when theirs were done.

So the doc is doing my procedure in 2 weeks. He didn't mention anything like lancing or banding, he just looked at my butt and decided that I need them removed. I'm tempted to just let him, because isn't hemorrhoid removal basically 95% effective and permanent?

And I'd rather get it over with and resolve this and move on with my life if I have to. In the mean time, I'm really hoping something can ease the immense pain with bowel movements I'm experiencing. I've only been having this a few days. It seems maybe the roid was inside and somehow worked it's way outside and now that's why it hurts so much to go. I've had no bleeding so far knock on wood.

The colorectal doc I'm seeing is super nice and everyone rates him very highly so I trust him, I'm just a little nervous still..He did tell me this procedure is one of the most painful one can have..so he didn't sugarcoat. But I guess if I need it done, so be it.

I can just tell you my story. The decision is in the end up to you... I tried to get rid of my hemorrhoids for many years with all kinds of home remedies, healthy, fibre rich diet and so on. In the end I finally wanted to live pain free and went for surgery, thd. It's a procedure in which the artery is ligated. It was performed ambulant and healed completely in about a week. My doctor says there is a chance the might come back but I completely changed my lifestyle afterwards which means a minimal risk. For me it was worth giving it a try. Just ask your doctor about alternatives!

Thanks the pain is pretty bad, but luckily only happens when I pass stool then it throbs afterwards for a bit but if I soak or press the area with warm water the pain goes away. I think the swelling has gone down slightly but it's still very swollen & painful. The doc said it's thrombosed and not likely to get better on it's own.

I don't think he mentioned banding I think he said he plans to remove any/all hemorrhoids I have. So a hemorrhoidectamy.

I see, you eat fiber-rich foods and stool softeners. However, the occurrence of hemorrhoid  is also due to our habits that we fail to notice contributes to the development of hemorrhoid. Prolonged sitting is one of those, lifting heavy objects and toilet straining. Anyhow, hemorrhoid banding is a safe hemorrhoid removal process. Hope you get better soon.

Can no one offer me some comments or feedback at all? Has anyone else gone through what I described?

The doc did tell me I can go home the same day which is good to know. Both my parents had to spend a night or 2 in hospital when theirs were removed many years ago...part of me wants to see if it will heal itself but I know I'd probably be just postponing the inevitable and I want this to be over once and for all so as of now I'm probably going to take the plunge & have them removed even if they ease up a bit before the procedure, they'll probably just come back again at some point unless there taken out
