actually they got progress more than western drugs on therapeutic vaccines and some antivirals which will be produced in asia and not in US
in the end traditional medicine, at least for hbv is getting rare in china and western drugs are used, probably because more effective....

in china they use about the same drugs as here, we have to be very thankful to them because most of them are using nitazoxanide and are checking hbsag quantity to see hbv clearance, test which is not available in US

many drugs are available for hepatitis B and work 100% cases when combined for the hardest cases which are only 10%
so while you can stop hepatitis and stop liver damage 100% eradication of the virus is difficult (liver disease and virus are not the same thing and you can have virus and no illness)
so 95-98% of adults clear hbv, about 5% carry hbv perfectly healthy and about 5% have hepatitis and liver damage, so it is important to know if you are in the 5% with hepatitis or just inactive virus with no damage
to know this all tests indicated here are necessary
