Stopping Antivirals (TDF) after sustained UND of HBVDNA

Any one have stopped antivirals after prolonged period sustained UND of HBVDNA?
I'm planning to stop my TDF, i have UND HBVDNA for almost 7 years now with normal USG and with normal LFT. But HbsAg is still positive.

is there any known side effects due to stopping antivirals other than relapse of HBV?
Do we fall sick for obvious issues like flue etc.,? Does our immunity will go low?
Any first hand information on this?

we don't have any reliable test for HbsAg quantification here in India. 4 Years ago it was around some 6500IU by CMIA method. My doctor said as there is proper testing for HBsAG quantity in india.
I think India has ok diagnostics facilities I know people who have good results etc on NUCS in India

being hbvdna in blood means nothing, if your hbsag is not very low you just risk severe damage and possible fulminant hepatitis if you dont check carefully after you stop tdf
only if hbsag is very low less than 100iu/ml you have chances to clear hbv, having low hbsag means that all these years of tdf rescued your immune system (tcell hbv response) and then you may clear hbv definitively

Thank You Stef.
Other than having HBV reactivation as a known risk, Can I get any issues of low immunity and thus falling ill etc., as I was on antiviral supplement stopping it make my own natural antiviral capability low and risks due to it?

no only immune cells response to hbv is low, the rest of the immune system is perfectly healthy.you just risk too much response of your immune system to infected cells in the liver and massing killing of them faster than your body capability of creating new ones

Does it make any difference if you stop nucs but continue with peginterferon, or is it the same risk ?

switching to peg has no risks and it could boost peg response after longterm nucs

I had taken peg-intf treatment before starting nucs which was termed as failure as there was no 10log decline in HBVDNA even at week 48 and also my HbeAg was still +ve at week 48. Later I started nucs then my HBeAg became -ve and HBBVDNA also became UND in just 2 months of nucs usage and that I'm still continuing. Hoped to see HBsAg clearance but no luck yet even with proper diet, exercises and Vit-D3 supplements.
after very longterm use of nucs pegintf switch or add on can work, although it could always be a failure too.i d rather wait for the cure now, it shouldn t take too long
Thanks Stef.. lets hope for the cure. I decided not to go for interferon 2nd time because of its side effects and the age factor, interferon had killed my thyroid the 1st time.
Let us know how it works if you decide to stop nucs
Sure Melcul., will post it here. I will be visiting my doctor after this Covid lockdown chores to decide on it.

May I ask why you wish to stop treatment?
