For a sportsman infected with chronic hep-b how serious the sides might be ? Are the sides temporary or permanent ? What can lower the side-effects ?

sides are of course temporary, I suggest you to regularly check thiroid gland values as they dont have to go out of range...

Yes hbv ifn sides are milder than hcv therpay, as many of sides are to blame on ribavirin which hbv carrriers don't get.

I personally went throuh ifn3 ys ago and did not have any sx.. i was 23yo however and young people tolerate it better..

I know many people on ifn mono doing sports and manual activities (carpentry, civil works etc)

sides are usually on about 8% patients, peg mono is almost useless because hbv cure is too low, 8% only, the best strategy to improve interferon response is:
tenofovir 1-3years to make hbvdna und
peg add on for 2 years
this has clearance of 40% first year of combo and 90% response

to boost interferon response, off label: vit d3, simvastatin. alinia

sides on hbv are ususally milder and not so heavy as on hcv but i dont have info on ways to lower interferon sides, those sides are due to immune activation so you may lower interferon response lowering sides

fibroguard may lower sides lowering inflammation but lowering inflammation will lower immune system response too
