Damage from Omeprazole

I developed really bad gas during treatment and it stuck around after eot and got worse. Now I'm having bad diarrhea and nausea and think it may be due to the Omeprazole. I take 40 mg daily and am thinking about going down to 20 mg. I found a study that says Omeprazole can cause SIBO (bacteria) in 50% of patients. I can't get into a gastro doc for another 2 months and think the diarrhea and inherent pain and nausea are driving my BP way up.

I don't have the cite cause I'm on my phone and my laptop crashes on me help but I will try anyway - in a few.

I posted a new thread on Omeprazole. See above dated Sept 1.
One does have to be careful what pills are ingested, especially those who's liver's are compromised.

Well, I've been totally free of it for a week now and no problems. I went from 40 to 20, waited a week and then went to nada. I ordered a case of Pellegrino on the 1st and believe it helps, but overall I've really had no gas. However, I did start a course of Xifaxan at the same time. So perhaps the Xifaxan killed off the bad bacteria that was creating the original gas and nausea.

I quit taking that stuff when I began treatment in 2014. I don't miss it. I do other things for nausea. I just stopped it cold turkey and didn't have any effects. I'm glad I did that. I still have nausea from time to time but I manage it. Downing a whole bottle of Natural spring mineral water with bubbles has worked for me lately. I drink the good stuff. No cheap treated water for me.
