I'm thinking about asking my doc for something for my pain I have stage 3 HepC and bridgin fibrosis stage 3. Is it appropriate to,ask my doctor for a narcotic when over the counter medication is not working? Or are they to damaging for the liver? I am,also on,Harvoni. Thanks

Depends on your doc. Mine says no to Anything. Others prescribe pain medication in small doses

I am so sorry you are experiencing pain. Opiates can be safely used in patients with late stage liver disease. There was a study done at the Mayo Clinic a few years ago that discusses the use of narcotics to control pain in patients with liver disease. You can read about it here:

When I treated, I got something called muscle rigors, very painful.  I was given a small amount of vicodin.  They now make it with a much smaller amount of tylenol.  I am sorry you are having pain.  Dee
