Need help

Hi, I am new here. I have been searching looking to find out as much as I can about hepatitis C
stage 2 grade 2. My sister has had hepatitis since the early 80's (as far as I know).  She drinks
alot, but does not think she does. She is a alcholic and doesn't know it. She just had a liver biopsy
so that is all I really know. I need some place to to send her so she will wake up, and realize
she has to quit drinking.  She will be starting treatment soon, and I'm not sure when or how aggressive.  We just lost one sister to cancer, I'm not ready to lose another. Any suggestions will help us a great deal.
Thanks

well stated susie.

mis  i would also suggest alanon or narcotics anonomous open meetings for you to help get insight to what your sister is going thru with alcoholism. you can only leed a horse to water but you can not make them drink or not drink as in your sisters case. this is what alanon will leed you to see.

it does sound like your sister is trying to get treatment and i pray she does too.
a hepatitis or hepspecialist doctor is the best to get her treated for hep c.  you can do a search in your area or see if you have a teaching hospital in your area, and you can check for study programs near you as well.

but remember drinking while on tx will lesson her chances of beating hep c.

let us know how it goes.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost a sister and that the other one is drinking. Drinking alcohol is probably the worse thing she can do. You might tell her that drinking alcohol interfers with the way interferon works and she will be wasting her time doing treatment if she drinks at the same time. Unfortunately there is little yo can do about someone else's drinking unless they really want help. Good luck.
