Your Gamma GT is slightly elevated as well. It is just another liver enzyme and is also sensitive to any over-the-counter drugs, alcohol and other things that can impact your liver. Most dos do not put any stock in it.

Ok, so you have a positive antibody test which means at some point in your life you were exposed to the hepatitis C virus. Your 245,560 IU value means that they found active virus in your blood stream. That test is called an HCV/RNA by PCR. Patients call it a viral load test. It's purpose is to confirm infection and to monitor if treatment is working. The goal is to be undetected 12 weeks after treatment ends and that is a cure.

Your other results are from a test called Complete Metabolic Panel. Your bilirubin is great; your ALT and AST elevations are very typical of hepatitis C patients; everything else is normal except your albumin is slightly below normal and that tends to bounce around.

Your next step is to talk with  your doctor about these results and discuss treatment. Treatment is much easier than it used to be. It is of shorter duration, has minimal side effects, and cures about 95% of patients.

I wish you the best.
