Bleeding gums anyone?

I searched archives. Started triple therapy July 15. I thought it was all those pecans I eat w/ ice cream trying to get 20 G of fat in w/ Telaprevir. I started flossing more. Switched to all natural toothpaste a few monthes ago and got my teeth cleaned. Bloody taste is terrible.
I'm ultra cautious around family regarding dishes, etc. My ex of 30 years and my daughter both tested negative. I hate feeling like my mouth is a viral mess. Karen

It seems pretty early for the effects to be from the meds, but it is possible.  How good were your gums to begin with?  Flossing daily is a good start.  That will toughen them up some besides keep them clean.  My guess would be it is those nuts.  Especially if your gums aren't in great shape

Do you to the dentist for a good clean.  A lot of folks ignore it during treatment but these drugs tend to dry up your saliva which is antibacterial.  I sucked a lot of Tick Tacks first time around.  Biotin mouthwash is also suggested to restore saliva (although I never liked the taste of it).  Treat your mouth kind. I have known people to lose teeth during treatment because they didn't.

Good luck, as I say, see you down the road

I feel for you. I'm early cirrhosis and know how scary that has been for me. Wishing you all the best with treatment. I'll have to read your bio to see where you are in treatment. I'll be doing my 4th shot soon. Well It's not a secret I've posted it enough LOL.

Hoping Undetectable for all of us. I dream of the morning we can wake up and know our liver will be healing everyday and not dying everyday......

Thanks!  I'll up the C for a few days. I've been juicing and doing a lot of frozen fruit whey shakes n think I'm gonna have to floss more too! lol. All those seeds. No sodium for me. 2 G or less a day. I bought Therabreath mouthwash n used it a few times today w good results.
Re: protease inhibitor - The pharmaceutical rep for Telaprevir gave us a class. THEN I was told I had the choice and went w/ Telaprevir because it's only 12 weeks. I start work next week n wanted it out of the way.
I was confident up until the nurse asked me which way I wanted to go. Telaprevir can cause rash n other symptoms n she wanted to be sure that my resolve wouldn't waver. Boceprevir has less of those SE. I looked her in the eye -she's my age - and we know each other very well by now - and asked her point blank: "If this were your body, what would you do?" I was terrified having been given a death sentence last year.
She said she and the transplant team were equally impressed with both drugs and that I could take either one w/ confidence. It was simply a question of SE. I know they don't always tell us everything until we need to know it. I have non-alcoholic end stage cirrhosis. I gotta have a cure. I trust my group. They've worked hep c for years. All that to say that I think you could take either one and obtain a good svr n und. Let's do it!

I had a bit of gum soreness and bleeding - I rinsed with warm salt water a few times a day and it cleared it up. Also, sometimes bleeding gums are a sign of vitamin c deficiency..

Did your doctor say why he choose to put you on the Telaprevir oppose to the other on that they have Boceprevir?  I am about to start treatment and my doctor is putting me on the Boceprevir?  Just wondering why, if you know.  And how are you feeling?  Here if you need to correspond with someone.....  May God Bless You!   :)
