Brain Fog

what is it about this treatment that causes the brain to get so foggy and affect your memory?  what is it doing to our brains that makes this happen?  Is there any medical data that talks about this?

I forgot to take my Rib at least once this week, maybe twice, not sure.  I forgot to put the coffee filter in the filter cup this morning, took it out washed it and put the cofee directly in the coffee pot!  My job is directly affected by my ability to have attention to details and I can't even remember how to make coffe correctly!

Yes, exactly...I DO forget words, although I know what it is I want to describe....
I also seem to have less comprehension, when my children are talking to me, and asking me questions. I have to ask them to repeat the question, several times, and then it goes like this: "Mom,can I have some Cheerios?"
"sure.."..."Okay, here Honey, here's your Rice Chex"......("but mom,I asked for cheerios")
And then, remembering all my kids various play-dates, and trips is becoming a challenge.  My mind is in SVR mode...I am most concerned with my every 8 hr pill schedule, and ordering my meds, from the Specialty Pharmacy, and calling them, to double-check if the meds will be arriving on time.
I put my husband and kids first, until I was too sick to ignore my health probs- my platelets started to slip, so mom is helping mom for half a year~

By the end of my tx, I could barely say an entire sentence without forgetting a word or two or five.  Everything was sooo fogged over.  What a mess.  It hit me hard.  I am 3 months post now.  I forget a word or so a week now and have to think about it for a minute before it comes to me.  Much better than forgetting a couple words a minute so no complaints.  I expect it will completely go away soon.  I know towards the end of tx, I started worrying what if I am stuck like this?  So I know how you feel.  Think you cant help but get a little nervous about that.  Just wanted to reassure you, it does go away.

Good question.  Interferon causes brain fog but i am not really sure why.  This article is about hep c causing brain fog, not tx.  But the second paragraph talks about the bodies natural interferon going into overdrive as a possible cause for hep c fog.  Have never really seen anything else on the why though.

I forget common words in mid sentence. Like I might say to my husband. Why don't you turn on the........you know......the thing that plays music in the car. He says. You mean the radio. And I'm like..... umm yeah the radio. I'm just finishing week 42 of a 48 week tx. I hope it gets better when I'm done

I don't know the medical reasons for brain fog but I really wondered if I would ever function again.  I started a new job and literally could not remember more than one thing at a time.  I took to carrying around a note pad.  I couldn't even understand the questions never mind come up with the answers.

I can say that by 7 months post tx I was back to normal - ish.  At 54 who knows what is normal.

Good luck to you - it will be better

I think it may be the Interferon?  After my shot this week, I felt a "spacey" feeling. Then again, I am on Triple Tx, so it could also be my hemolytic anemia, which deprives the brain of oxygen.
I can still drive okay though, but really prefer only taking short trips around town. I also think its the fatigue. I took a nap the other day, but I'm still just as tired. I cant keep up with my firends who are not on Tx, that's for sure.
I stay away from sleeping pills and other things like anti-anxiety pills, or marajuana, which of course, helps me to remain more focused
