Charley horse/ Itense leg musle spasams

I have not been on here in a long time, my hep C doc is still trying to find my genotype, i just get blood work done today, first time in many months so hopefully i will have a answer soon.  I have a sinking feeling though that this virus may not be as new as i thought it was, i have been waking up consistently for a the last few weeks with intense leg cramps and sometimes even Charley horses, and i know you can't feel liver pain but i have been having some right side pain located just over the liver which i have rarely had before, it's much more frequent,  should i be concerned by any of this? if this is signs of liver disease and i am further along then i thought, why wouldn't i produce a genotype at this point?

Back on my favorite hobby horse.  please make sure you are drinking plenty of water, first!  Then, maybe, if it continues, a bit of some electrolyte drink at bed time.  Do you get enough Vitamin D and K?

Also, as can-do says, there are many causes for leg cramps/charley horses.
have you talked to your Dr about some tests?

Good luck on finding a solution.  Leg cramps are no fun!

Blessings,

Pat

I take magnesium and eat a banana before bed time to prevent cramping. It works for me. Ask your doc to check your magnesium.

Possible Causes of Muscle Cramps

Muscle cramps can have many possible causes. They include:

•Poor blood circulation in the legs
•Overexertion of the calf muscles while exercising
•Insufficient stretching before exercise
•Exercising in the heat
•Muscle fatigue
•Dehydration
•Magnesium and/or potassium deficiency
•Calcium deficiency in pregnant women
•Malfunctioning nerves, which could be caused by a problem such as a spinal cord injury or pinched nerve in the neck or back

Muscle cramps can also occur as a side effect of some drugs. Medications that can cause muscle cramps include:

Low potassium or dehydration would be the first place to look, as for being causes of Hep C that would not be a cause. As for not being genotyped that does happen but in very rare cases. Best to you.
