Crap Crap Crap.. anyone miss an Incivek dose?

Somehow this morning, I missed taking my Incivek..  had it ready to go, took the ribaviron (and the rest).. and when I went to take my 3pm dose.. found the first dose sitting on the table..  

So, following instructions, I just took the regularly scheduled dose.. meaning I now have missed 1 dose..  hopefully it does not mess anything up..  I mean jeez.. I have an iPhone app, I had it ready, it just slipped behind my iPad.. and then work started.. then..  well there you go.

Anyone else mess up like me??

Check the paperwork that came with your meds.Mine say on Incivek there is only a 1 hour window(if a 7 pm dosage you can take it between 6 pm or 8 pm) which the drug should be administered every 8 hours.I hate Incivek  because of the 20 grams of fat and I called Vertex to complain.I tried to come up with a happy medium to the 20 grams.If the test subjects took both Incivek and Ribavirin at the same time,and I am alternating the two every 4 hours,would this change the results of the absorption rate.They said no and they said It"s ok to seperate the drugs every 4 hours.I even asked if I cut or crush the pills for greater absorbency,they said not to tamper with the pills and to take them whole.Well that answers my question on the 20 gram issue.I will ask my dr today to switch to Victrelis if possible.If not I will have to cowboy up.,take it like a man and stop whining.I have come this far the last 18 months,I do not want to screw it up now.

You can watch the video on You Tube as"dr.Melissa Palmer-Telaprevir & Boceprevir for Hepatitis C part 1+2.She talks of resistant to the drug if you miss a dosage.I called vertex and they said not to believe everything I see or read online.

Just curious, whats the app called? I just set the alarm but thats getting old, could mix it up!
ps.  the incivek gives you a 4 hour window, for some reason victrellis only has a 2 hour window.

Hi michael,

I never saw a video.  I have seen a good few articles as willb describes and received guidance from my doc and pharmacy stressing this.  I am not sure why you have an opinion that differs as I have not found any articles that are particularly controversial on this being a potential risk.  You should be able to research this yourself easily but I have not saved the links to these.

If you google on incivek resistance you should find plenty of info to read through.

I do concur that missing one dose one time, you are probably ok but it's still a risk to be avoided by any means possible in my book
