Cr@p My husband just got stuck with my needle

How strong are the chances my husband just got infected with HCV? I didn't realize the lid to my needle wasn't on and the needle fell on the floor. My husband saw something and picked it up when he did he got stuck. I feel awful.

I agree that your husband should be tested...for nothing else but peace of mind. The upside is that with the new drugs there is actually a cure....one that will be as simple as a pill a day for as little as 8 weeks. Certainly a much more sunny outcome than previous treatment.

The risk of transmission of HCV after a needlestick exposure from a hepatitis C-positive source is estimated at between 2-10%

It's best to contact his doctor and follow the recommendations for testing after possible exposure.
